We were up visiting our daughter in South End and she took us here, as it's one of their favorite restaurants.
The night started with our great waiter, Sebastian, greeting us, asking us if we had any allergies and then recommending a few of his favorites and the best approach to take on ordering. The recommendations and advice was perfect and we thoroughly loved our meal and the entire dining experience. Sebastian was great and we would request him the next time we visit.
The crispy eggplant was my favorite but there so many close second place finishers. The only thing that was not my favorite, was the cauliflower. But everything else, A++

Fantastic dinner for the second time in a row! Really delicious food, delicate and intriguing flavors, elegant atmosphere and great choices in drinks and food. We ate probably 2/3 of the menu and everything was tasty. Would come back for the eggplant tempura alone! 🤤 Great job kitchen crew and Sebastien was awesome as our server. We dined with a toddler and were greated and helped with much respect. Thank you!

I visited Ilona for dinner tonight.
I really enjoyed the food — the pita was very fresh and soft, and the hummus was freshly made by the chef.
The chicken and lamb kebabs were excellent — high-quality meat, perfectly cooked, soft, and tender. We were truly impressed!

Ilona did not meet our expectations. The food was good, nothing exceptional like other Mediterranean restaurants in Boston. But the service was horrible. After being asked if we’d like another round of drinks and placing our orders we were told they couldn’t be placed anymore because there was another reservation at our table. That’s fine but there were other tables open? And not to mention no one sat after we left. Just unprofessional. Glad we tried it but would not return as there are so many other amazing spots in Boston!

The servers at Ilona are so courteous and attentive. It really feels like they have your best interest at heart. Besides that, I love the crispy eggplant and their buck a shuck deal keeps me coming back too. Would highly recommend people to try out this classy restaurant.

The food was amazing—so tasty, so good! I haven’t had anything this flavorful in a long time. I got the Mejadra, cauliflower harra, and manakish bread—everything hit the spot. Portions are on the smaller side, but enough if you’re not super hungry. Super friendly staff and no wait, which was a nice bonus. Great outdoor seating for a summer night.
Go for the one dollar oyster deal. Yum yum, what a good price for some delicious oysters in a nice setting with a good atmosphere. MUST. I mean MUST try the brussel sprouts. Best in this world. The sauces were saucing. Holy cow I can not wait to eat more brussel sprouts here. Yum yum yum. Service ok.
