The male Italian host is extremely rude and borderline racist. It’s ironic because not so long ago they are the victims of racism themselves. He only talks to the white customers and gave us cold face. We are number 3 in the line. When he gave the tables, he skipped us and gave our table to a a white lady who arrived after us, a table for 2! There is also another empty table in the restaurant but he won’t give it to us for no reason, keeping us waiting outside in rain. Never will I come back to this place again!

A little disappointed in fellow reviewers as this is a fine restaurant but not a 4.7 star, North End Italian restaurant. Service was good and atmosphere was small but nice. We had four people in our group, ordered four different dishes and three different wines. All were okay. Pastas were not house made and tasted like bagged pasta from any grocery store. Marinara was watery and translucent, lacking in rich flavor. Shrimp was mediocre. Chicken Parm was pretty good on its own, freshly fried while lacking quality sauce and cheese, but pasta accompanying it was disappointing. None of the wines were good and were priced about 4X-5X their value. Service was good and atmosphere nice, so not the worst tourist spot but there certainly are better Italian places in any US city let alone Boston.

Highly recommended place in the Italian neighborhood. Be careful that there are no pizzas but the rest is very good, very delicious pasta, shrimp and clams. Very good treatment from the waiter who was Colombian.

Very delicious food. We had the lobster ravioli, the scampi and the bolognesa and it all fell quite like authentic Italian. Portions were very decent and desserts were also great, especially the tiramisu. Service was attentive and friendly, but of the waiters used the chance to promote the night club he works at which seemed a bit strange …

We had lunch at Isabella after taking a walking tour that ended near the restaurant. The pastas are very delicious although the portions are not very abundant. The service was very good and one of the waitresses spoke Spanish, providing us with everything we needed. The gnocchi are very delicious!

We had an excellent meal here! The dough was at the right point. The tomato sauce was very tasty. The meats that accompany each dish were well prepared and with well-served portions. The environment was clean and organized, but it bothered me a lot that the waiters were cutting the sheet of paper to place on the tables in the same room we were eating, and that made a lot of noise.

It took us forever to find a good place to eat in downtown Boston. It was late, every restaurant was packed, but we found a gem in Isabella Ristorante. Easily missed as it's on a side street, the place is relatively small and quaint, with a great evening atmosphere. The food and service were excellent, with interesting variations on the typical Italian trattoria fares. Overall a great dining experience.

This place sounded amazing to us since it had the same name as our daughter. It was a small place to eat. Went here for Valentines Day. Food portion was small. The service was amazing but the food was a little off. My daughter's pasta tasted very old made. It had a weird taste but she still ate it. 10 minutes getting home... we developed food poisoning. Never returning again.

Came on a Friday night and was packed so while we came a little early couldn’t be seated until our reservation time. Once we got seated the waiter explained today’s special but we went with the pear salad with blue cheese, chicken parm, talligatele bolognese which all were spectacular. The talligatele was handmade and so chewy and the tomato bolognese sauce was the perfect acidity and sweetness. The wine was more than half full and recommended by the waiter. Love this place!

Second time at Isabella's and it did not disappoint. I loved the ambiance and how full it was. The restaurant being small makes the dining experience a little less big and you feel more comfortable. The dishes we ordered we had not the first time going and we liked the flavors that were brought out as well as the speed at which our dishes arrived; appetizers came out fast with time to eat them and dishes came out close to when we finished our apps. Very good experience and food. Recommend that you make sure you have a reservation, they fill up quick!
