Don’t order the curry chicken! I ordered a medium curry chicken with rice and peas, vegetables. And paid an extra dollar for plantain… Anyhow, the chicken looked pink and when I tasted it, it had a flabby undercooked texture to it. In terms of the curry flavor, it was very bland and lacking that rich curry flavor. I threw away the chicken. I will not be ordering anything from here again. Also, as a side note I ordered through Grubhub (got a full refund).

I ordered a medium fried chicken lunch online and I was amazed that a lady called me to asked what kinda gravy I wanted and that they only had steamed vegetable….an hour later I got my lunch, let me tell you I tasted the rice n peas and eat half of it before I realized I didn’t put the gravy that I got on the side on it, the chicken is also great. Portion is great, THEY DID NOT USED ONLY SUGAR TO COOK LIKE ANOTHER SO CALL JAMAICAN RESTAURANT I BOUGHT FOOD, I would give 10 stars if I could. I don’t know about the atmosphere I ordered online

I had food here ordered through UberEats. Their oxtail is delicious and so soft that the meat falls off the bone. Portions are generous and a great bargain for its price. Their plantains are also delicious. I would highly recommend this place.

First time ordering here and it was a nice experience the food was a better experience. Ì enjoyed the curry goat and steak with rice and peas with veggies. They also have fried dumplings ?. Both plates delivered a nice season island style flavor to my pallet. I will definitely revisit this place again they have a nice menu. A variety of island style dishes that gives the reason for the name. The steak is soft and tender like you are chewing gum. yummy! I also had the steak and cheese on coco bread and stew chicken and all of them was yummy in my tummy. I like the food its like a home cook meal. Thank you. I enjoyed my plate.

Ordered curry chicken and jerk chicken. Portions of chicken were really large and the flavor on both were really really good.

Besides being in the most dangerous part of the city and the restaurant itself being dark and dismal, the food was horrendously disgusting. The beef Pattie’s were stale and burnt. The chicken soup was flavorless and the chicken itself was slimey. I was overcharged by a very rude woman working the register but I figured they needed the money so bad so I didn’t even argue at a $50 bill for one plate, two beef patties and a small soup. To add insult to injury (but out of the restaurant’s control) I was chased by a wino on the street as I tried to get back to my car and get the hell out there! I’m so sorry I gave this place a chance (never again) but if you decide to make sure you have back up b/c this place had me in fear for my life!
These people gave me a vegetable Patty that was so hard I could throw it and it did not break. I was very disappointed in this place but I haven't been here in years so...

Best Jamaican food in Boston - the rice is great and all the food items come out cooked fresh on a regular basis throughout the day.

I visited here, yesterday. I live in Connecticut and wanted to do and visit somewhere different. I was born there and have not been for a LONG time. Pleasantly surprised, the food was delicious. The staff was sò nice, friendly and appeared to actually want to be at work. Thanks for the hospitality, Island Style ?

As a Jamaican, I was beyond disappointed. I don’t even like to go out of my way to take time leaving reviews, but i just had to in this situation. To keep it brief, the workers were the rudest people in the service industry i’ve ever dealt with. The attitude was extremely disgusting, and the cook even sang a song mocking me as he prepared the food. And it wasn’t justifiable. I was the nicest person when i walked through that door. He sang that i could make up my mind because i couldn’t decide what i wanted for 30 seconds since they had no cabbage or oxtail, after they refused to provide a menu. But then being rude was not the problem, because as long as my food is good, I don’t care. But the food was awful. I immediately went to Flames and ordered the same thing because I could not take the disgusting “curry”. The picture i put in this review is a side by side of the same order from Island Style and Flames. Anyone who truly loves island food can tell which one they would rather. Never in my life will they get my money again. GO TO FLAMES PLEASE! save your money.
