A most ridiculous place with un knowledgeable and obnoxious staff. I was visiting from London and looking for a nice higher end chinese restaurant so I chose Jiang Nan after some searching. The service was decidedly poor with the waitress not knowing anything about the menu. I asked her if they offered familiar options like vermicelli noodles and beef fried rice, she said they didn’t but upon closer inspection of the menu, both items were indeed on the menu.
The food was mostly bland particularly the rice but the worst thing was the brazen rudeness and audacity of the wait staff and a gentleman who appeared to be some sort of manager. They both accosted me and accused me of leaving too small a tip and demanded to know why I had tipped so little. I was gobsmacked as I’ve never seen behaviour this appalling from an establishment. While I understand that tipping is part and parcel of the American service culture, I think feeling so entitled to a minimum amount of tip, something which should be at the customers complete discretion and then causing a scene and trying to reprimand the customer for not leaving you a generous enough tip is a spectacularly crass thing to do. The manager went as far as to say I should have told them I wasn’t planning on leaving them a generous tip before they gave me a table. Apparently they did me some sort of favour by allowing me to pay to eat at their restaurant and a generous tip should have been their just reward. I have never seen such disgraceful and entitled behaviour from any service establishment in my entire life and it just goes to show the lack of refinement from the staff of this place. I will never ever visit this place again and will caution anyone to avoid.

Tried the blueberry chicken and sautéed pea sprouts. Like them both. Pea sprouts were pretty oily though.

This was genuinely some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Every dish was so fresh and flavorful, with the crispy beef and lime being my absolute favorite. Perfection. I appreciated the complementary spicy cabbage with chili oil as well.
Service very knowledgeable and attentive as well. Highly recommend!

Located just across from Boston Common, JiangNan Boston offers a cozy yet modern atmosphere that blends traditional Chinese design with contemporary style. The menu features an inventive take on Chinese fusion cuisine, balancing familiar flavors with creative twists. We tried the Peking Duck, which was perfectly roasted—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside—and paired with classic accompaniments.

Service was exceptional from start to finish, with attentive staff who provided thoughtful recommendations. For dessert, the crème brûlée stood out as a delicious East-meets-West fusion, with a smooth, subtly flavored custard and a crisp caramelized top. JiangNan Boston is a refined dining experience well worth the visit.

The place is very nice, but the food is even better. All the dishes were spectacular, and the waiters' service was excellent. The pumpkin dumplings were our favorite! If you want Chinese food in Boston, this is the place.

Visiting Boston with my family. The food here is very tasty with good presentation. Service is pretty good but can be improved. Better to make reservation ahead of time. Parking in this area can be difficult if visiting by car. We parked at the Boston Common garage and walked around the area before coming in for dinner.

JiangNan is hands-down one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food, the service, the atmosphere, everything is consistently top-notch. Just a tip: if you're a party of two, walking in is usually your best bet.
From the moment you're seated, the staff makes you feel welcome - gracious, attentive, and incredibly efficient. The cocktails are fantastic (definitely try one!), and the food never disappoints. My go-to order: the Peking duck—half is more than enough for two—the dumplings, and the tomato fried rice. Each dish is packed with flavor and beautifully presented.

It’s a staple stop for me whenever I’m in Boston, and I can't recommend it enough.

Grabbed a late and light lunch with a friend here. The pickled cabbage appetizer and vegetable stir-fries were outstanding (pea sprouts, green beans). The other two dishes were underwhelming. While my friend loved the mushroom buns, I found them way too sweet. And the truffled steamed egg custard tasted as bland as you can get, despite the one tiny slice of truffle on top. Service was great, fast.
