Visiting Jiang Nan in Boston was a truly delightful dining experience! The Peking Duck and dumplings were especially impressive, both exceptionally delicious and memorable. The service at the restaurant was excellent as well, with professional and friendly staff. The location is also very convenient, situated near the Ritz Carlton, making it a perfect spot for enjoying a fine Chinese meal with family or friends. Highly recommend to all lovers of Chinese cuisine!

Actually really good authentic Chinese cuisines. As a person who loathe “fusion food” or American Chinese food, I think JiangNan is better than I expected

I had really high hopes for JiangNan since I have a close friend that recommended it. I also saw the creme brulee crabs, and I definitely wanted to try it. However, when we were told that it was an hour wait, we ended up waiting closer to an hour and a half. Additionally, once we were seated, we were asked 5 times in the span of about 5 minutes if we were ready to order (by 2-3 people). It was extremely overwhelming. When we eventually did order, at around 7:30 pm, we were told they ran out of the honey walnut shrimp. We were deeply disappointed since this is one of the dishes we were told they were known for. Because we kept being asked to order, my fiance and I freaked out and felt pressured to choose things off the menu. The jellyfish we chose was fine (they tried hiding cucumber underneath so they could give less jellyfish), but the entrees were not great. The crispy fried eel was battered so thinkly that it tasted more like crackling doused in honey. We couldn't taste the eel at all. Then, the pork belly with dried beans was completely terrible. It had this weird taste like licorice, and really, it was dried beans with pork belly rather than the opposite (as advertised). I'm not sure if it was the seasoning or if they were old, but something was definitely off. Additionally, for the prices they are charging for food, I'd expect to also not have chipped plates (first picture with the entrees) since I was concerned there could be fragments in the food. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant, but I give it 2 stars since I know that it's hard for Asian restaurants to enter the world of fine dining. I'm just really disappointed since we spent so much for our anniversary dinner and we left hungry and deeply dissatisfied. We didn't even try the crab creme brulee because my fiance and I felt sick from all of the oil.

Elevated Chinese fusion food, that's just right. The Pork & Black Truffle Soup dumplings are amazing! The combo wasn't too overpowering especially paired with the mild vinegar sauce. We also ordered the Shrimp with Walnut (the walnuts are very delicious), Deep Fried Eel with Pepper, Black Truffle Deep Fried Tofu, Cheese Kimchi Fried Rice, Deep Fried Pumpkin with Salted Egg Yolk, Peking Duck, Duck Bone Soup. Everything was so tasty we dug right in and forgot to take the photos early on!The Kimchi Cheese Fried Rice didn't look very appealing at first glance, but it was so delicious that the appearance no longer mattered. In fact, everything was just right. The cream shrimp was not too creamy (didn't make me sick of it), the deep fried eel wasn't too oily (didn't make my throat scratchy) and best of all: it didn't taste like MSG (as how typical Chinese food is).My top 3 I'd order again would be Duck Bone Soup, Pork & Black Truffle dumplings, Deep Fried Eel with Pepper. The Peking duck was great, and they gave us free refills for the sides, but I may have already been too full to enjoy the duck at that point, thus not making it to top 3.The only downside was the cocktails were a little disappointing, though highly recommend the Yuzu one! The service was great, but our waiter recommended us to order more (as is typical in this restaurant) and we ended up having too much food for 6 people. The bathroom was clean but could be better taken care of. The interior makes the place look elegant and sophisticated, especially with the mirrors.Great experience, highly recommend for those who don't like MSG or are looking to try a different side of Chinese food.Vegetarian options: They have tofu and pumpkin dishes, as well as dishes with veggies. Though, the label isn't very clear for "vegetarians" as some vegetable dishes include meats.

Title: A Culinary Adventure in the Heart of BostonReview:Jiang Nan has breathed new life into the former Teatro space, creating an upscale Chinese fusion experience that stands out among the city's culinary offerings. Located just outside Chinatown, this gem quickly became one of my favorite restaurants in Boston.**Highlights:**1. Soup Dumplings - A must-try! The perfect balance of delicate dumpling skin and rich, flavorful broth.2. Wontons in Chili Sauce - A delightful mix of spice and savory goodness, these wontons are a treat for the taste buds.3. Sweet and Sour Pork Tenderloin - A classic dish with a modern twist, the pork is tender and juicy, and the sauce strikes the perfect balance of sweet and tangy.4. Mapo Tofu with Minced Meat - A comforting, spicy dish that warms you from the inside out. The tofu is silky smooth, and the minced meat adds a wonderful depth of flavor.5. Sautéed Eggplant with Minced Meat - A delicious combination of tender eggplant and savory meat, this dish is a must-order for any eggplant lover.6. Steamed Lotus Roots Stuffed with Sticky Rice - A unique and beautifully presented sweet dish, perfect for sharing with a group. The gold leaf adds a touch of elegance to this delightful dessert.7. Peking Duck - A showstopper! The presentation is stunning, and the duck is expertly prepared. A must-try for any special occasion.**Skip:**1. Sliced Pork Belly with Mashed Garlic Sauce - While the presentation is interesting, the dish falls short in flavor and texture. Served cold, the thin slices of pork belly don't quite hit the mark.2. Pineapple Beer - Cute presentation, but not worth the price. Made from a combination of Budweiser, pineapple juice, and Sprite, it's a novelty that doesn't live up to its cost.Overall, Jiang Nan offers a delightful dining experience with a lovely interior, attentive staff, and an extensive menu of delicious dishes. The complimentary marinated cabbage and chili oil salad is a tasty start to the meal, and don't be afraid to ask for more.5 - star experience. Can’t wait to be back.

The peking duck is their specialty and I’ve tried couple of other places and hands down they’ve the best Peking duck. The meat was curved prepared and carved perfectly with some gold leaf and the very thin rice tortillas. It’s delicious and you’d keep eating. Then I tried the cumin lamb based on the server’s recommendation but it’s so salty and veggies were mushy or over cooked despite the firey presentation it’s probably the worst Chinese or fusion cuisine meal I’ve ever had. Another issues is service. Too many people providing service like refilling water or taking empty dishes away but the one assigned to take your food or drink orders only shows up if you asked for him which is kinda unusual for any restaurant in the US. Bottom line for Peking duck in Boston only go here but for Chinese or Chinese fusion?!? Food pick any other Asian or Chinese restaurant in Boston.

If you're planning for a weekend dinner here, get here well in advance and plan for an activity until your table is available. Wait time on Saturday, March 30th, was about 2 hours...It was worth the wait.Ordered the following:- Spicy Sour Shredded Potatoes- Sliced Marble Beef in Golden Broth- (Half) Beijing Style Duck
