Reading other reviews, I understand that this is considered everyday Chinese food and I can appreciate that. We did takeout from here late night, just before they closed. We got Mongolian beef with string beans and something with pork and lots of bok choy. Both came with humongous amounts of rice, enough to feed 3-4 people. Since there were just two of us we ate mostly the goodies on top of the rice. The beef was actually pretty tasty. I wanted the pork to be spicier than it was as it lacked flavor, and the amount of bok choy piled on it made me wander if they had run out of pork, although we did find a few small pieces there. I love that it is a family restaurant and hope they can move beyond just average.
This is no doubt one of my favorite place for a perfect plate of wonton & char siew noodles. Simply love the texture of the char siew pork and chicken as well as the crispy fried won ton and boiled cooked won ton and the sauce/ flavor. we discovered this restaurant some years ago (recommended) when we were visiting Boston. The owner of the shop namely Paul Eng and his sometime assistant John Chong are ever so helpful and friendly and very prompt in managing their ever faithful customers. Everything was just right, the noodle texture, sauce and the most satisfying was the chunky char siew three layers starting with crispy skin at the top and a layer of good fat after that and lean year layer of meat after that , unlike the thin slices in most places. The Char Siew was not overly sweet, yet flavorful, chunky yet not tough but appetizng because it is not totally 100 % lean pork which gives great value for money in all kinds of live economic situations in Boston and Massachusetts whether down turn, upturn or normal conditions. It is also the exclusive wonton place for me. The foods was good especially the won ton mee and the price was reasonable. Everything is totally recommended here. Great value for money indeed !
Nice friendly staff, and the food is decent. They give generous amounts of noodles per bowl, and the curry balls on a stick are a nice treat.
Chaumeen was authentic, a bit of different smell overall in the place that I am not used to. Got in because of the cold, though it has decent food
Great food. Cheap price. The food actually fills you up, which is amazing. Get the dirty beef cake, best thing ever.
This café was close to our hotel and received rave reviews for their crispy skin duck and pork. This café is popular with the Chinatown residents and had a steady stream of customers. The whole time we where there eating our meal, we were the only round eyes in the place. Chinese was the dominate language spoken, though many were bilingual and switched back and forth between English and Chinese with the staff. The combo of duck and pork was ordered, expecting something outstanding. The duck was very good, but the skin was not crispy. The pork was average flavor, didn't have crispy skin, and contained bones. The duck had no bones. What was interesting is Lychee Juice was offered as a beverage. It was very good and highly recommended. Also, this is a cash only place. Signs are boldly posted, but be prepared.
Still closed but seems like a good menu. When they open back up would be worth a try. We won't be around due to traveling here now. Seems like it would be worth a try based on what you can see while being closed. If it was open we would have tried here based on the options. Good luck.
Very nice people. I always get the sweet and sour chicken on rice from this place. They are crunchy and savory and they make it best.
This spot is extraordinary and roomy, the meals was yummy and the prices were very economical. quickly, effective service and very attentive staff. Recommended.
Tried the wonton noodle soup, not the same as before, it must be changed the ownership, noodle was overcooked, wontons are not good, the shrimp and pork are not balanced, soup has no taste, not recommended!

Very friendly staff, very welcoming and helpful
This small eatery at the end of Chinatown's southern borders is run by a local family who also run a food produce company. Chinatown Cafe is the go to restaurant for local families and Chinatown ex-pats who have moved to the suburbs. The many other clientele are the non Asian city workers, hospital staff, ambulance drivers, and other adventuresome people who want to try delicious Chinese BBQ meats like Roast Duck, roast pork belly, maybe the best belly with its crackling skin in the city, fried chicken wings, and combination meat and vegetable rice plates or the same in pan fried crispy egg noodles called chow mein. One does not fully appreciate this place and its assortment of offerings unless one is a little adventuresome and slowly exposed by a Cafe follower to this style of Chinese food. You will have to tackle bones, fats, different cuts of meats and flavors in various dishes. But if you understand that this is commoner's food geared for the tastes from working class recipes from China and Hong Kong and if one is open to trying it, you will know what a big deal this place is. Regulars come at least once a week for years. Immerse yourself in this cultural adventure. Eat in or take out. Parking is tough.
