At the end of our dinner, the server came by with the check and pointed at the 20% tip suggestion and said to me :"This is the tip rate that we operate here."Then walked away. I gave her customary 18% tip, left a note for the inappropriate request. I feel pity for the server to feel the need to demand and beg tips like this. Really wonder how poorly Eatley and La Piazza are treating them. Will not return to this restaurant again.

Decided to stop by during the holiday season. You could smell the delicious food so we had to try it. The setting is awkward: you either eat at the bar or on the high standing tables in the middle of the marketplace, with people passing by. Not the best place for a quiet meal. The prices can be higher than most places but they do have a great selection of Italian food and wines.

Mouse in the house.I was there last night with a family member. Had a table on the front of the Pizza kitchen ( by the register). While the manager and two other employees where standing by the register a mouse passed by and went in to the pizza oven area, one of the employees attempted to block it with her feet. I just had a few bites at that time. I had left a note on the back of the receipt and asked the waitress to read. I did look like there was awareness among employees about mice issues from their reaction when they see the mouse passing by. I would expect the management to take the issue very serious as there was plenty of lights and a lot of noise that would prevent a mouse from walking around unless there is a lot of them in this place .....!!!!!! Hopefully they don't wait until mice start jumping on tables while customers there.

Fresh Italian food that is full of flavor. The bolognese, Margareta pizza, fettuccine with truffle butter, and lasagna all were great. We even had a Bellini and a lemonchelo spritz. We topped off the evening with fresh gellato from right around the corner.

I’d probably skip this restaurant. It’s a very expensive Olive Garden. I had overcooked fettuccine pasta with a tiny bowl of Parmesan for 30 dollars. Bread was extra! The store surrounding the three restaurants is a lot of fun and features all Italian products. Unfortunately, it’s over priced too. I’m not going to pay 75 dollars for a cheese grater. Take a quick tour of the interesting store and skip La Pasta and La Pizza.

Love the food at Eataly (almost worth the prices) but the service was not great. First, the hostess completely ignored (I mean I was invisible!) my middle-aged self until my gorgeous 22 year old daughter walked up behind me and got the hostesses attention. Just awful. Now which one of us is going to be paying that bill? Ignore the middle-aged at your peril, Eataly. Second, I wanted coffee with my order but the machine was broken. ??? I was invited to leave and go grab a cup at one of their sister coffee places and bring it back. Um, no. Third, a woman came to clear the table and asked if we were finished. I said "no" and away went the dishes!! I had to grab my plate back! Clearly she either wasn't listening or she spoke no English. Any non-English speaker should be taught the top 10 phrases used in a restaurant so they can at least understand the basics. The food was wonderful but served with a side of disrespect, which made it hard to fully enjoy it.

It's absolutely amazing, the two restaurants in Eataly are better but you can get in only with reservation, this one is first come first served. Pizza and pasta are always a must!!!

Our cousin in Providence told us that La Pizza e La Pasta in Eataly is her favorite pasta restaurant in all of Boston so we had to check it out. It's located in a market hall/mall so the atmosphere is ok but nothing special. They work with what they have. The service was also ok but nothing special. However, the pasta was FANTASTIC!!! We had the Pappardelle al Ragu di Funghi and the Agnolotti al Tartufo Nero. Wow. Yes, they were on the pricey side: $26 and $29, respectively. However, they were so delicious we may try to go again in the next few weeks. We also discovered a new white wine that we had never heard of that we LOVE. We are so glad we came here.

Had the eggplant pizza and the calzone pizza. Can’t remember what the actual names are. The calzone pizza was like half the size of the eggplant pizza for whatever reason and didn’t really like it. Too much whatever yogurt-texture like cheeseEggplant pizza sauce was decent. Kind of overpriced quality wise, but it is convenient if you get hungry at the pru.

We have been customers at the Boston store for long time. Great store. Unfortunately, recently we bought some items online from the main eataly website , which IS NOT the store. (Our Boston store is great.) We made a mistake, as they sent us expiring items . We had to bring the items back to our store in Boston, which we did not know was not involved at all in eataly.com online processes. We met there the greatest manager, Mrs. Monica, who was superkind, proactive and helped us keeping the returned items at the store , which really was a great favor, as the store is not responsible for that purchase. She was an angel. What I want to share is that the central online customer service has not be looking as smart as we expected . The “chat” is just named but always reported as “inactive”. After some interactions by email they sent an “investigation” with their “specialist” who decided that our Mulino Bianco cookies were not really expiring. They even lectured us that in the US expiration dates are reported like month, day, year. So, they decided that our items were not expiring in January, but in July and August. No refund then ! Unfortunately they sell European items, but they do not know Europe uses a different date system , which is DAY,MONTH,YEAR. It is a interesting that their “experts” do not know that and they even try to lecture us, enriching our knowledge ! Unfortunately they should get a tour and see what is on Eataly’s shelves. The same kind and brand items that we brought back (not refunded yet) to the store are sold with amazing expiration dates starting with “months” like 17(5 months after December), 21(9 months after), 25(13 months after). That is great , even amazing , astonishing from specialists who sell Italian products. Of course, if they were right we may finally have more than 12 months in the calendar , which is an amazing scientific discovery , even deserving an academic position ! By the way … with months like 25, 27 …does it mean an additional year ? As strange at it may seem I did not find months after 31 on the shelves !!! Why is that ?

A group of friends got together for lunch before the Boston Antiquarian Book Fair here. The appetizers were good and the Truffelo Pizza was really good, although too expensive for the personal size you received. I had the linguine alle Vongole and it was okay. The seafood was cooked well but the dish itself was somewhat bland. A little overpriced for what it was, the best thing about the meal was sharing the wine with friends
