The food tasted and looked old. The Brisket was tough, the burnt end was like a brick not edible, and the ribs were extremely bland. All the meat was dry and had no flavor at all. The meat was sitting and cooking in dirty smoke because it was very black. The mac and cheese was not good, and the fries were the only good thing to eat.

"Open" sign was on. Went during hours of operation, lights were on inside...no one came to take order.
If "Open" as sign indicated and during hours, have someone there!

Pretty good BBQ, coleslaw wasn't the best though (very vinegary). Good place to grab a bite. No Dine in.

It was really cute that they thought they could do BBQ in Boston seaport. Straight up garbage. BBQ takes time and patience, something they clearly don't have. Burnt ends doesn't literally mean burning the meat. Everything was dry and tastless, the mediocre sauce did its best to moisten and add some flavor but still fell flat.
Setting was great, but attitude was arrogant and dismissive. Bad food and bad service? Not at all synonymous with even a decent barbeque joint.
I've been all over the country and had good BBQ, this ain't it. It's fine, just be real with yourself and sell some lobster rolls or something.

The setting is great, especially during late summer in Boston.
The food:
Overly fatty, and not very flavorful, burnt ends. A LOT of I rendered fat.
Collard greens heavily seasoned with vinegar. I know some people like that, but.... Nah.
Yams were sweet, not buttery or rich at all.
The sweet potato fries were good.
Catfish was ok.
Left there ~$50 lighter in the pocket and not satisfied at all.

I got wings with fries & candied yams and it was ok for a lunch meal. Improvements needed on the grumpy , dry, rough customer service that I received from staff at the order window. I had more who asked me for a location to eat at but I could not recommend the place because the friendly service was not present. Let someone else work if you can't be kind to customers please and thank you.

So, I’m walking out to get a head start on my tour of Boston (first time), and I spot a BBQ spot across the street from my hotel. I look at the menu and know that I’m in the right spot. As I approach the counter to order, I’m met by a gentleman that reminds me of my uncle. In any case, he takes my order and asks me if I want a full cup of ice or light ice with my soda. Now, this may seem like a small thing, but this is how I knew the food would be great. In my experience, if the seduce is great, the restaurant has taken time to prepare their food with the same amount of detail. A generalization, but my taste buds agreed. As Larry and I continued to converse about my Celtics winning the championship, the amount of flavor in the burnt ends was distracting—in a good way. As I stood aside, and watched other customers approach the stand, I realized I was standing in a unicorn of a business in the Seaport area. Great food, great customer service AND a moderate price point. If you’re ever in Boston, please make sure you stop by this open yet hidden gem!

My husband always advises me to check reviews before trying a new restaurant. While I usually don't write reviews, I felt compelled to share my disappointing experience with this particular establishment.
I was in town for a conference and, during a nighttime walk, I noticed this restaurant situated in a park. It seemed like the perfect spot to try for lunch the next day since I hadn't had BBQ in a while and the location was beautiful.
However, my visit was marred from the start by an unpleasant greeting. The worker, possibly the owner, appeared annoyed when I asked questions about the menu. I was simply trying to understand the offerings and engage in some light conversation. There were no other customers in line, so he had ample time to interact with me but chose not to.
While the food was decent, the poor attitude overshadowed the entire experience. I requested a refill on my drink because it didn’t taste right, and he explained that they use a local vendor. Despite this, he seemed reluctant to give me a refill, as if it was a significant expense. I paid $40 for mediocre food and rude service, and I regretted tipping him, which he clearly did not deserve.
The restaurant's location is fantastic, but the service leaves much to be desired. It's unfortunate because it could have been an enjoyable lunch. My advice to the owner: don't take advantage of your location, and remember that your customers deserve better service.

IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN MAKING!
Yo, seriously if you're looking for bbq grub, you found the spot. Sure, it might be a hike to get to in the seaport of Boston, but once you get there, you'll be happy you made the trip. Succulent meats and ribs that fall off the bone into your salivating mouth. This restaurant is a hybrid combination of Texas style BBQ with secret sauces I can't wait to get more of! Thank you Larry and Linda!

Larrys is one of the only orginal gems in the seaport. Staff is great, food is AWESOME. And the they recently acquired a beer and wine license which is perfect considering the beautiful location. It’s right on the park overlooking the ocean. Highly recommend.

Everything (brisket, ribs, pulled pork, wings, burnt ends) was super-dry. Friend said the sausage was good, but that's it. The guy that took our order was a complete A-hole. Unfriendly, unhelpful, unresponsive to questions and surly. Fountain soda was one of the worst beverages I've ever drank and they didn't have any straws. Just an incredibly disappointing experience. We would have loved to give them repeat business and great word-of-mouth, but these guys take no pride in their craft.

My husband is from Texas and knows good Texas BBQ and Larry’s is the closest you’ll find in Boston! It is amazing! We really wanted brisket and were so delighted that everything was incredible! We went twice in one week ?
The person on the phone is always so nice and my husband met Larry and said he was wonderful and they even offered more BBQ sauce for free if we needed! I can’t say enough great things about this place and the owners/staff! Oh and you can sit outside with an ocean view ?
If you want BBQ or just a nice friendly place to eat look no further than Larry’s J’s bbq.

I recently visited Larry J's BBQ Cafe in Seaport Boston, and I was extremely disappointed with my experience. Even though it's a take-out spot in a park, the owner's behavior (Larry) was inappropriate and unprofessional. I had heard rumors that he was agressive and super inpatient, and unfortunately, this was proven true during my visit. His behavior was uncomfortable and out of place for a food stand. The whole time we were having the food we were scared he'd come yell at us!
Additionally, the he had a very arrogant attitude. He acted as if he owned the entire city and made it seem like he was doing everyone a favor by selling his food. This kind of demeanor is incredibly off-putting and not something you expect from someone in the service industry.
To make matters worse, I witnessed him being aggressive, which was shocking and unacceptable. A place where people come to grab a quick bite should be welcoming and friendly, but this was far from it.
While I was looking forward to trying their BBQ, the poor service and hostile environment completely overshadowed the food. I wouldn't recommend this place! Have yourself some respect and go eat where they respect you!
