The meals were good but not as good as we expect from Legal. Swordfish was too thin and was not delivered hot. The salmon on the Caesar salad had no taste. Legal is usually much better.
To start out, when we booked the reservation, we were asked, if we had any special requests. We asked for a seat by the window and that we weren't comfortable sitting in the middle of the room. Of course they had us sit in the middle of the room. They said they didn't have any window seats available. The restaurant is very noisy and our waiter was a foreigner, we couldn't understand his broken English. We ordered a cup of clam chowder, which was about a half a cup. Our meal was the lobster roll and french fries. We ordered it hot and it wasn't even warm. It was dry and flavorless. As our first experience here, I wouldn't recommend it.
Clam chowder had far more potatoes than clams that significantly diluted the taste of the chowder. Fisherman's catch had an excessive amount of fries and not enough seafood. This was definitely not good value for money.
Black cod dish a well prepared but lemon caper sauce was very mild. Loved the choice of sides—good veg choices. Wine was pricey. Ate here 30 years ago and has gone downhill. Poorest service in Boston. Won't go back. Disappointing as it was a birthday celebration.
The wait staff and manager were spectacular to match the food! Quite the meal! There were a few loud groups with kids which affected things but we got along fine and that is where the manager and waiter and waitress came in and made our night! I highly recommend this place to everyone!
Food was delicious. Our waitress Rita was incredible! She made the experience memorable.
Service was attentive. Good so so. Legal used to be sparkling fresh. Now it's more like a chain. Can be noisy. Families seem to enjoy.
Entree served while we were still eating starters. Plates simply banged on table Reception : unfriendly , no welcome no eye contact
The staff accommodated our group of Vietnam Veterans with a nice table at the side of the end room. The staff were friendly, helpful and very attentive. And the food was excellent with large portions that were seasoned and cooked perfectly.
Francesca was an AMAZING server, very informative and attentive. We went for dollar oysters, great quality. Food came out hot and nicely plated. We got a table near to the kitchen, and the noise wasn't bad at all. Definitely will return.

Legal Seafoods exceeded my expectations. I had the stuffed lobster and I can still feel the warmth and taste the flavor almost a week later. Highly recommend if you want Boston seafood.
What was once a memorable local experience is now a true tourist trap. They wouldn't care what they were serving as the local seafood was unimportant to the staff. Service was sloppy. I ordered 6 oysters at $3.50 each and one was served upside down! After being paid, our waiter disappeared permanently as we waited for our receipt that he was to be retrieving.
The crew at Legal Long Wharf was fantastic! From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. Our server, Nick, made great recommendations & was absolutely hilarious. The oysters Rockefeller & chocolate pudding cake were a big hit at our table.
Great selection, great tasting food, awesome service. Everything fresh, well seasoned and cooked properly, good drinks and portions too.
We ate at the Long Wharf location and it was poor at best. The cod was overcooked, the Miso carrots were most certainly not miso forward and they were undercooked, and the broccoli was cold — this was true across 2 meals. The bun on the fish sandwich was stale — the fish itself was great but we did not order fish and chips, we ordered a sandwich because we wanted a sandwich. Speaking of chips/fries they were grainy as if they'd gotten cold and were then re-heated. We also had to ask for rolls vs them being brought to us or being asked if we'd like them. And when we did get them, they too were stale — hard as a rock! The saddest part of the experience was that we were entertaining family from out of town which made it embarrassing. We have eaten at several Legal Seafood locations from Cranston, RI to Harborside and they are always customer focused while serving fantastic food. Not sure what's up with the location but we will NEVER be back!
