I have been eating at Legal Seafood for 50 years, and have always enjoyed it. But candidly this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have had, First, I tried to change my reservation to a later time, as I could only get a 4:30 reservation on Open Table. I tried calling the restaurant during business hours a few times and nobody picked up. Because I really wanted my friend who was visiting Boston for the first time to have this great experience, I planned the entire day around this reservation. We were seated adjacent to a large table of 3-5 year olds. Their mothers sat at an adjacent table yelling to their children and allowing the children to constantly wander around our table. They were playing on electronic devices, crying etc. as the mom's drank wine and enjoyed themselves. Our food was terrible. The fish and chips were way overcooked and my fried clams were soggy. I was so embarrassed that I hyped up this restaurant to my friend and planned our day around it. Our server was good, and commented how those children were probably annoying us. They were but nobody did anything about it. It was a total disappointment, and I will likely never return. Since Legal Seafood is no longer in my area, I can't imagine wasting my time during the next trip to Boston.
Great location, good food. $150 for 2 lobster rolls and a cup of chowder and an iced tea is very high. Lots of places to get the same thing for a lot less.
Fantastic experience! We first had a cocktail on the third floor outdoor bar - what a view! Incredible. Then down to the first floor for dinner —Our waiter set the mood for excellence. He was amazing. We ordered a few shrimp cocktail apps that were enormous and so fresh, it was like eating a fine steak. Our dinners consisted of baked haddock, crabmeat sandwich, crabcake and shrimp, and my husband ordered the braised pork bolognese which he is still raving about- said it's the best dish he's ever had anywhere. Desserts were phenomenal — overall, this was a fantastic dinner. Even when we finished, the waiter was so good, he never rushed us out, replenished our waters, etc... just amazing. I wish we caught his name because we kept saying a few times over dinner “ wow, I love this guy!” HIGHLY recommend!!!
The lobster rolls were terrific and the clam chowder is always a champion. Service was super! We were running a late late and the front desk held our slot, very accomadating.
Its was great, after many years we have returned to Legal Sea Foods. Great food service we will highly recommend and it's our list any time we visit Boston
We had a wonderful time. I had dinner with my parents and my cousin and his family visiting from out of state. We all enjoyed ourself throughly. Shout out to our waiter who went above and beyond for us!
Maybe there was too much food. Don't think two sides are necessary with lobster. Other then that everything was good.
I've eaten at Legal since its inception. Food quality of fish has gone down drastically. My sole was many under all the sauce, rice clumped, carrots hard and looked like they were cooked days ago. GF rolls for lobster salad were hard and stale. Not worth the hype anymore.
Bamb bamb cauliflower excellent. The blackfish entrees were overcooked and tasteless. Ditto for the greenbeens and potatoes. Service was extremely poor as the waiter served as order taker, expediter and busboy. The auxiliary staff mostly observed vs worked. Manager defended the staff's incompetence by claiming they didn't speak or understand English. Worst meal ever at $150/head. Will absolutely not return.
We love going here but alas I think it was too busy that night. The biggest disappointment was the lobster was overcooked in the lobster rolls. But the stuffed quahogs were outstanding!

The rainbow roll with Jordan crab was absolutely outstanding!! The lump crabcake was lovely. The large chunks of crab meat versus the breading ratio was deliciously balanced. This mustard smear being underneath a cake was both aesthetically pleasing and also allowed you to use as much or as little of the sauces you wanted.
The restaurant was perfect. Food was exceptional as was their service. Great location and we had a beautiful view.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Harborside venue. Food and service was wonderful, and the view is just beautiful. Couldn't have asked for a better evening!
My wife and I were celebrating our 39th Wedding Anniversary and we had an excellent lunch. My wife had the fish tacos and I have ( of course ) the Lobster Roll. We both shared the mussels. Kudos to our serer Krystal V. for her friendly service and taking a photo of us celebrating #39 ! I have a hearing issue and the reception staff found us a perfect table. Our cocktails were a special treat and at the end of the meal Krystal V. brought us vanilla ice cream balls covered in chocolate ( oh so good ). Thank You Legals Harborside !
Very good experience. Our table of three all enjoyed our food. The poke nachos were great. Very creative. My blackened salmon was cooked perfection. Drinks were good, no complaints! Not earth shattering, but very very solid! I would definitely return. Great view as well! Service and food service were on point!
