One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to, and definitely the best gluten free food I’ve ever had. Arlene the VP also was very nice to us and gave us a complimentary gluten free tiramisu. Always come back here whenever I’m in the area.

Sadly, Libertine is the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in the North End. They took away half the posted menu for Valentine’s Day (why? To get more money out of people?) and they were out of menu items for the items that were still supposedly available. I ordered the clams, half of which were no good and had to be spat out. The “crusty bread” for the broth was simultaneously raw, chewy, and burnt. My kid’s pasta wasn’t al dente, it was raw in the middle- I bit it in half and you could see that it was dry. The chicken cutlet was good but jeez, I can get a good cutlet from any old takeout place. If you charge these prices you should know what you’re doing, to which Libertine clearly does not.

Flavors were good but the proportions were disappointing, especially for the prices. My husband ordered chicken piccata and I don’t even think he got one full chicken cutlet. They cut it up into small pieces, I’m assuming to try to hide how small the protein serving was. The didn’t even bother to fill the plate with ziti either… Atmosphere was cozy.

Hidden Gem
I’m picky Fantastic seafood plates ,starters just as good. Best waitstaff since pre Covid . I usually go only hit Regina and l*********os. When traveling into the North End , I’m adding libertine to the list. Give it a try !!!

Libertine was a solid stop overall. I ordered the lobster ravioli, and the food was simple and straightforward—nothing crazy or over-the-top, but still enjoyable. The price points felt very reasonable for the North End, which is always a plus.
We also ordered the charcuterie board, which was alright but not a standout. It did the job, but it wasn’t the highlight of the table. The vibe was a bit underwhelming, though it’s worth noting the place was pretty empty when I went—there was a snowstorm that night, which likely played a big role in the lack of crowd.
Overall, Libertine feels like a decent, no-frills option if you’re in the area and want something casual with fair pricing.

Looking for gluten free dining and Libertine was excellent. It was lunch; so the dining room was quiet, but the bar area was bustling. Our drinks, appetizers, and entrees were excellent. The flaming sausage was fun, the gluten free chicken parmigiana and pasta were flavorful, and the special steak was tasty, although I suggested a tad more red pepper for more Iberian kick. All in all a great choice.
Great food. Went on Friday at 1:45, staff eating and talking beside us detracted from ambiance. Food and service very good. Imagine nighttime dining more atmospheric
Beautiful place. Service was excellent. Food? Calamari not spicy enough. Veal picatta over sauced Steak with egg undercooked. Disappointed

One member of our party has celiac disease, and our server was exceptionally attentive and knowledgeable. We truly appreciated the extra care taken to prevent cross-contamination. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere with exposed brick and a comfortable noise level made it easy to enjoy conversation. I would absolutely return!
Resturant was extremely loud!!! Couldn't hear my partner at all. We had to yell ourselves to hear each other! Cod was over cooked. Best thing was the mash potatoes. Our waiter was great though!
Best GF restaurant we found in Boston. The staff was very accommodating with a scheduling problem but the food and wine options made up for the slight delay.
Chicken was raw in chicken broccoli ziti

Just pretty bad all around. Tasteless or completely over salted food. Overpriced for the quality. Tough to get a bad meal in the North End, but we sure did.
