I expected a far better experience. There is a dress code, but it was obvious that they didn't care what people were wearing because there was a nearby table that had four guys wearing baseball caps. $22 for a California roll is aggressive. Overall, not worth it.

We dined at Lola 42 on Christmas for a romantic dinner, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish.

The atmosphere was perfect for a date night : stylish, warm, and intimate, while still feeling lively. The space itself is beautiful and very well maintained. Everything was spotless.

We ordered the Escalar Roll Special, Poke Nachos, Tuna Burger, Snowy Mountain, and finished with the Basque Cheesecake : every single dish was delicious. The food was beautifully prepared and served very quickly, without ever feeling rushed.

The service truly stood out: the servers were incredibly professional, attentive, and clearly highly trained. Everything flowed smoothly from the moment we arrived until the end of the meal. We were also lucky to find parking easily that evening, which added to the overall positive experience.

Overall, this was a fantastic romantic dinner with amazing food, excellent service, and a great vibe. We will definitely be coming back.

Absolutely disappointed.Ordered through Ubereats. For the price and reputation, the food was shocking. The salmon in my sushi was black and clearly old, the steak tartare was black, the crab rangoon tasted like it had been fried yesterday, and the shrimp was just bad.

THE Asian infusion food spot of BOSTON! Do yourself a favor and go in make sure to leave a review cause the amounts of reviews they have don’t give them justice!!!! I’ve been on the search for a high end Asian food type of vibes ! No disrespect to Mr.H but just didn’t make the list & I’ve had philippe chow in different states, Sei Less, Jue Lan in NY so that’s my list! But in my home town didn’t have a spot. I went in with an open mind especially cause the reviews didn’t have many. But this is totally the right place for my vibes ! I’m happy I went in and tested it! Everything was great, do yourself a favor & order the Garlic Shrimp & the rice and make sure to combine it ! The king crab ragoons were a HIT especially with the sauce!

I recently enjoyed dinner at LoLa 42, located at 22 Liberty Drive in Boston, and I must say it was quite a delightful experience. The standout dish for me was the Chirashi Maki, which combined tuna, salmon, and yellowtail with shiso, cucumber, and a tangy yuzu-avocado citrus aioli. It was vibrant in flavor and had a wonderful mix of textures that made it a real treat. The Grilled Octopus, which our waiter recommended, turned out to be another highlight of the evening. Served with saffron fingerling potatoes, shaved fennel, and piquillo pepper, it was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor, definitely the star of the show.

We also indulged in some specialty sushi rolls like the Yutaka, featuring BBQ eel and king crab, and the Asahi, which had spicy salmon topped with tuna and salmon. Both rolls showcased the kitchen's creativity and were delicious all around. I have to give a special shout-out to our waiter, Rafael. He was impressive, knowledgeable about the menu, and offered confident recommendations without ever needing to glance at the paper. The atmosphere in the dining room struck an upscale and chic tone, featuring clean lines and an energetic vibe, though it was a bit loud—a detail to keep in mind if you're after a more intimate setting.

While the flavors were spot on throughout our meal, I felt that the presentation could have used a little more work to match the upscale ambiance. When the dishes arrived, they were indeed delicious, but they didn’t quite have the visual appeal I often associate with fine dining. As someone who appreciates good food presentation, I think LoLa 42 could elevate their plating to enhance the overall dining experience.

Overall, if you’re in the mood for amazing flavors and attentive service in a stylish environment at the Seaport, you can’t go wrong with LoLa 42. Just be aware that while the food tastes fantastic, the visual presentation may not quite match the high-end atmosphere.

Lovely dinner place. The food choices were interesting and the service very attentive. I love sushi and the food here is tasty!

I had one issue, the $31 king crab and eel roll didn't have crab in the last quarter of the roll and was mostly rice. I spoke with someone and they told me that is normal. After some pressing about this (its not normal at good places!), they took the 3 pieces left and brought back 2. We went on with our meal, it has a great atmosphere, but probably won't come back.

This cozy seafront restaurant has a beautifully designed and elegant space. I’ve shared a short video so you can get a quick peek inside. The place really comes alive in the evenings, so reservations are a good idea if you’re planning to visit later in the day. This time we stopped by for brunch, and it was quiet with just a few other guests around.

I first visited Lola42 three years ago, and it seems the sushi menu hasn’t changed much since then, which was a bit of a letdown. The sushi is fairly average and not quite what I’d hope for in a seafood-focused spot right on the water. Once again I felt a bit sorry for Bostonians missing out, as I've had tastier experiences in NYC and Orlando. The cocktails at the bar were ok, and not something I’d be excited to order next time. The hosts were friendly and quick, even if they didn’t share any specials or recommendations.

Overall, it’s a nice place to stop by and enjoy the view while on a stroll in the Seaport. Cheers!
