Nice place. But as north end nothing is low cost. Downstairs have enough seating. However tables are small and a bit cramped.

This place is a hidden gem... if you get to know the bar staff in the bottom they are a true gem. Make you feel sooo comfortable and they are so good at what they do. We popped in for a drink while getting to know the North End of Boston and ended up canceling dinner plans just because they were so involved with their customers and we felt we should just stay for dinner! Amazing amazing crew i must emphasize!!!! The only awkward thing i felt was a manager lady that would pop out as a sargent out of the blue and make the vibe uncomfortable!!!! So i had to ask who she was. The bar staff made it all so good to stay and hang out and i thought of leaving a few times because of her unwelcome stares to us and the bar staff...but no way.... Alex, carlos, Adriana and Isabel were the best. Couldn't recommend the awesome drinks and them enough! Thank you for the memorable drinks and dinner! We shall be back!

I visited Lucia Ristorante while walking through Boston’s North End, and it felt like a classic Italian restaurant right in the heart of the neighborhood. The place has a warm, old-school atmosphere with cozy dining rooms and a lively crowd, which fits perfectly with the historic Italian vibe of Hanover Street.

I ordered a pasta dish, and it tasted rich and comforting, just like traditional Italian cooking. The restaurant is known for homemade pasta, classic dishes like lasagna and maccheroni, and recipes inspired by the Abruzzo region of Italy.

What stood out to me was how authentic the place felt. Lucia has been part of the North End dining scene since 1977, making it one of the long-standing Italian restaurants in the area.

Overall, Lucia Ristorante is a solid choice if you want a traditional Italian meal in Boston’s Little Italy. The food is hearty, the atmosphere is lively, and it’s a great stop after walking around the historic North End.

Good morning,
My fiancée and I spent the evening in Boston to celebrate his birthday last night. He loves Italian food and I had never eaten in the North End of Boston before. He chose your restaurant based on the description and many excellent reviews that you had received, as well as the specific notations given to gluten free options, as I have celiac disease. We were so looking forward to a romantic, special occasion and some delicious food.
When we arrived for our reservation, we were greeted at the door by a very young hostess who seemed as though we were bothering her … “Do you have a reservation? I can’t find it. What’s your name? Oh here it is.’ She then took us to the basement of the restaurant and put at the very last table in the corner where we were entertained by the staff’s conversation at the bar the entire night. The restaurant was empty and the upstairs was much nicer, by the windows, overlooking the street, especially since we had a reservation … it would have been nice to be seated up there. The basement definitely did not reflect the “ambiance” that the website describes.
Thank goodness for Carlos, our server. He was the only bright spot in our experience. He was kind, attentive and charming.
The food was cold. The gluten free pasta was soft and rubbery. I had very little sauce and what was there was quite watery. The bolognese was hamburger only and very bland. My fiancée’s dinner, although much prettier in presentation than mine, was bland as well … no spice, garlic, no offering of fresh Parmesan cheese to either of us for our dishes.
I never, ever complain when I go to restaurants, but to spend the amount of money that we did and receive the service that we did (seated in what felt like a basement) and such disappointing food, I had to let you know.
We were first time patrons, and we would not go back, nor would we recommend to others.
First impressions matter … Carlos made a great one, but unfortunately the hostess, the seating, and the food did not.

My wife and I both had the mista salad and the Ammazzafame which was very bland. I mean no taste whatsoever. Big portions fast service and it looked appetizing but zero for taste!

I have been here a few times. My favorites are the Amatriciana and the Pollo Francesco (see photo). The Carrozza appetizer and panna cotta dessert are great as well. Service is very friendly.

I was in this restaurant a few days ago and the young manager came over to our table in such a friendly way. He was checking on guests and helping the servers at the same time. The service was great, and it really felt like they genuinely cared. Definitely a place I’ll come back to!

Food came out warm and got cold within 5 minutes and sauce was watery. Food also came out super fast and we felt rushed in our dining experience. We were there for maybe 30-45 minutes.

Portions are very small and food is not as good as many other places we have dined at in the North End.

Food quality was great with decent options for non-vegetarians. We got 2 chicken pasta dishes and loved them both. The portions are enough for 1 person but not enough if you are very hungry. No kid's menu and almost no options in the menu for vegetarians either. The place is very lively on the weekends (we went on Saturday). Selection and quality of desserts was great and changes periodically. Overall a great place to visit and would recommend it!
