Would give 5 stars but HappyCow only permits that for 100% vegan. We had the vegan plate for two that comes with eight dishes plus injera bread. Everything is delish and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The place is full so clearly a popular restaurant. Comfortable and cozy with lots of artwork on the walls
wonderful Ethiopian food. fast service. peanut tea is delicious. very reasonably priced. we look forward to returning
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lucy’s Ethiopian cafe and it was an incredible experience that transported me straight to Addis Ababa Ethiopia through its vibrant flavors and warm hospitality.
From the moment I walked in, the inviting atmosphere set the stage for a fantastic meal.
We got the platter for Combo 3 Yebeg - Spicy.Lamb cubes sautéed with onion, garlic sauce, and rosemary with all Veggies.
The delectable experience cannot be described in words. We are bean-town locals & Flavors hard to simulate at home is why we visit restaurants in the city. Fortunately my spouse is a marvelous chef.
What really stood out was the communal dining experience. Sharing food from the same platter added a sense of togetherness that made the meal even more enjoyable. It reminded me of my upbringing in a traditional Muslim community in India, the Dawoodi Bohra community.
The service was friendly and attentive; our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations.
If you’re looking to explore Ethiopian cuisine, I highly recommend Lucy’s Ethiopian cafe. It’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates bold flavors and a unique dining experience!

The injera is delicious! I am still trying to make homemade injera as good as Lucy's Ethiopian Cafe. It is centrally located in Boston, MA and walkable from across the Charles River, coming from Cambridge, MA and crossing Brigg's Field and MIT. You can also experience Commonwealth Avenue and The Prudential Center. It is located close to the Prudential T stop.

Had a wonderful meal here. Ordered a combo that allowed us to select 4 vegetable sides, and all were delicious. This is a place where you order at the counter, then find a seat. When it's ready, they bring the meal to your table.

This place is a rip off!
We ordered Veggie combo for 3 and we only got one plate (1 beyaynetu) with just two extra Injera bread. They serve the smallest portions (wet) compared to any other Ethiopian restaurants in the U.S. but they charge unreasonably high i.e., $52. If you still want to get your own experience, beware of a very slow service as well.

Disclaimer: wait time is too long. The food portion is way smaller than any other Ethiopian restaurants. However, the prices are higher. We ordered combo for three from the menu but they ended up serving one combo with 3 plain enjera.

What a delicious restaurant! We were craving Ethiopian food on a rainy day and found this place. Everything was absolutely delicious. The peanut tea was fabulous - we’d never had it before but will definitely get it again! Milky and nutty and sweet - so good! We got one lamb combo and one chicken combo, both were excellent. The lentils, split peas, and potatoes+carrots were particularly good. We also got Injera with split pea curry appetizer, which was so good. The Injera is so soft and light here, definitely the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!!
Vegetarian options: Wide range of vegetarian options, including the appetizers and full plate veggie combos. All the vegetarian options we had (lentil stew, chickpea dish, split pea curry, potato and carrot dish) were delicious.

Lucy, please open another location somewhere south of Boston. I would eat this food at least once a week, but can only get to the Boston location like once a year.
Vegetarian options: Veg appetizers and entrees.
