We sat down on Mothers day around 6:30. 15 minutes later we were offered water. The person serving us (Her name began with a "A"), seemed to be busy chatting it up with the hostess and other wait staff. About 5 minutes later, she took our drink order. and another 10 for our meal order. The appetizer and main were only minutes apart. There should have been a bit of a pause between courses. We were waiting for a second drink offer but none came. It wasn't because the restaurant was busy, it just seemed our waitress was more interested in conversations with the other staff members. There is definitely room for training and improvement with this particular server.

Overall a very good experience. It wasn't terribly busy but service was a little slow. Food was really good, a couple of obnoxious tables near by, but other than that, all good.

We were looking for a fun place to eat near the Charles Theater, and thought we sould give MJ Oconnors a try. We made a reservation via Open Table and specifically asked for a regular table (NOT a high top). The hostess said they didn't have any regular tables, so we ended up sitting at the bar. It was a good move because the bar tender was fabulous and we had a great time watching the Sox game (we won!) and also the beginning of the F1 race. Excellent beer selections and the food was outstanding - best french onion soup ever! Perfect french fries and my grilled cheese was delicious. We will definitely be back!

I love this place, it has a very comfortable neighborhood vibe. People going here after work friends gathering it felt perfectly comfortable in the food is all delicious comfort food. I highly recommend the pretzels. This might be one of my favorite stops when I go to see Theatre in Boston.

Came for a lunch with coworkers. The food was bland, fries under cooked, most of us did not finish our plates as the food just wasn't good. The server saw the large party and was trying way too hard for a tip.

Somebody said this a dive bar. Not a dive bar. $10 for a miller lite. I know it's Boston, but come on....i don't want to buy the diesel for your yacht.

We had the chicken pie and beef stew both were great. However, the service was awful. It was not very busy and still took ten full minutes before anyone came to the table for drink orders. Food was delivered quickly by someone other than our server. Server was pleasant but sat at a back table rolling tableware, we could see her, while we waited for her to comeback to check on us. Had to go to the host to ask for our check, which took yet another ten minutes.

Blah food, tasteless quesadilla. Bartender was great, friendly, and helpful. The place is kind of a dump / dive, but that is its charm.

I have always liked this place in the past but had a bad experience last night. They advertise that Friday nights they are open until 2am. I showed up at 1am and the girl at the bar says, "I am closed, go to the bar in the back". I went to the bar and the back and the guy says, "I am closed, go up front." I did, and the girl tells me, "I don't even have a drawer open, we can't help you." A bit of a crowd still there but I guess when the employees want to go home early, they just close up and go. If you are not open until 2am, don't advertise you are open until 2am.
