Great place, great food. Had some oysters on the half Shell, escargo, a NY Strip Steak, and the Monday special, Grilled Lambs Tongue, which was oh so tender.
Can't forget the Chocolate Soulffe'.
You may want to call for reservations. Inside and outside dining.

Staff were very kind and friendly. The waiter was extremely attentive and provided excellent service. The food was the BEST meal I have ever had (veal chop). Dessert is a must as well. The atmosphere is relaxing and classy. Will definitely be back this place is a gem and I couldn't be happier with the service/food. Fantastic. Thank you.

I love French cuisine, cafes, and bistros. So part of me loves Ma Maison. The other part sees me cddcfddmore critically. The food is uneven and not at all seasonal, really. This is French food that's formulaic and predictable. It's like a Disneyland version of a French place. For example, we ordered starters and entrees w green salad to follow. The waitress looked flummoxed. After? Said she didn't know if the kitchen could accommodate that. Seriously? ... Even though this is exactly the way the French and Europeans organize their dinners. Not so much in the US where salads are often starter courses. But this is a FRENCH restaurant. And sadly the plain green salad when it arrived was not worth eating. Just some tough frisée type lettuce with no flavor. The Grande Marnier soufflé was a treat though lacking orange or brandy flavors.

It was a great small intimate restaurant with great food. Went there because I was visiting someone at the hospital and I liked the food so much, I went back there again the next day. If you like French food, you'll love this place.

This review has nothing to do with the quality of the food at all. I love the food at Ma Maison and have had mostly positive experiences here. I’ve been to this place many times but never have I had an experience as bad as last night. I made a 7:00 P.M. reservation that I showed up on time for. The hostess told me the previous guests were just finishing up dessert and it should be a few minutes. My friend and I waited until 7:22, checked in 3 times with the hostess who was had a very sarcastic attitude and I only received an apology the 3rd time I checked in to see if the table was ready. At 7:22 I was told the table should be ready soon but the hostess could not give me an exact time. When I make a reservation I expect to be seated on time or shortly after….not wait almost 30 minutes and be told they don’t know when I’ll be seated. This was not acceptable.

Writing a review for Ma Maison is such a challenge; do you want to say just how good it is so more people know? Ma Maison is one of our favorites in Boston, for lunch (as we did this trip), it is the choice of our guests most often. They have a wonderful selection of quintessential French food (including an amazing baguette). To complement their food the wine list is not extensive but it has an excellent selection of some of the best French wines in a very reasonable price range. As we are getting older we often skip lovely starters such as the French Onion Soup or the green salad, both make you feel you are relaxing in Paris.... This trip Julie had the quiche which comes with a salad and 'fries'. I was offered a bit and it was delicious. This is the last place I can consistently find duck confit so it's often my choice; today along with a potato it had asparagus which were also cooked perfectly (served with a bit of cheese). As we finished we each ordered a Grand Marnier Soufflé (they also offer one in chocolate, or Crepes Suzette, an Apple Tarte Tatin, or....). All of this was timed so we could enjoy and relax by our server Justin. Not only does he lead us through wonderful meals but he's provides key stops for our next trip to France. Food, wine and service that can't be beat; a bit of France in a bistro here in Boston. Merci.

I had French toast with blueberries for lunch- best French toast I have had! Kronenbourg lager was delicious and French bread was warm and fresh. Service was friendly and timely.

Tucked away in the charming embrace of Boston’s South End, Ma Maison is a culinary haven that beckons with the allure of French-inspired comfort food and a cozy atmosphere that feels like a warm hug on a chilly evening. My partner and I chose to visit this quaint bistro on a recent weeknight, eager to explore its offerings and immerse ourselves in its inviting ambiance.

As we stepped inside, we were greeted by a warm and intimate setting, where rustic wooden beams and soft lighting created a welcoming glow. The decor, a blend of vintage French charm and modern touches, enveloped us in a sense of familiarity, as if we had stumbled upon a beloved friend’s dining room. The gentle hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses added to the enchanting atmosphere, promising an evening filled with delightful flavors.

We began our culinary journey with the Duck Pâté en Croûte, a delightful pastry encasing rich, savory duck that melted in our mouths. Each slice revealed a treasure trove of flavors, complemented by a tangy cornichon that cut through the richness, leaving us eager for more. It was a beautifully executed dish that showcased the kitchen's dedication to traditional French techniques.

For the main course, I chose the Coq au Vin, a classic dish that transported me straight to the heart of France. The tender chicken was braised to perfection in a rich red wine sauce, infused with mushrooms, lardons, and pearl onions. Each bite was a comforting embrace, evoking memories of cozy dinners in a rustic French countryside. My partner opted for the Braised Short Ribs, which were succulent and flavorful, served atop a bed of creamy polenta that soaked up the savory juices. The dish was a testament to the chef’s ability to transform simple ingredients into a symphony of taste.

Throughout our meal, the service at Ma Maison was warm and attentive, embodying the spirit of genuine hospitality. Our server was knowledgeable, offering insightful recommendations and ensuring our glasses were filled with the delightful house red that paired beautifully with our dishes. However, there were moments when the service felt a tad rushed, as if the evening’s rhythm had a slight urgency that distracted from the leisurely dining experience we had hoped for.

As we concluded our meal with the Tarte Tatin, a caramelized apple tart that arrived warm and inviting, our spirits soared. Each bite was a sweet revelation, with the buttery crust cradling tender apples, their sweetness perfectly balanced with a dollop of crème fraîche. It was the perfect ending to our delightful journey through the flavors of France.

In conclusion, Ma Maison is a charming sanctuary for those seeking an authentic French dining experience in the heart of Boston. The quality of the food shines brightly, showcasing a deep respect for culinary tradition and seasonal ingredients. While the service had moments of slight haste, it did little to diminish the overall joy of our evening. As we stepped back into the bustling streets, our hearts were warmed by the flavors we had savored, and we looked forward to returning to this delightful bistro, where every meal feels like a cherished memory waiting to be created.

Ma Maison 🇫🇷 in Beacon Hill is top tier! ✨ I had the best French onion soup and the escargots were to die for 🐌. The atmosphere is so romantic and cozy, perfect for a special occasion or just a fancy weeknight dinner. Definitely check it out if you're in Boston 🏙️. #MaMaison #BeaconHill
