My wife and I always like to go someplace new during restaurant week. The menu looked good so we met up with our son and tried it. Nice atmosphere and good wait staff. My son and I ordered the escargot, very good, my wife had the mixed green salad. My son and I both ordered the cassoulet. I like duck, but never had confit. It was very tender and had great flavor. The pork was also very good. Neither I or my son were a big fan of the sausage. My wife had the chicken under brick and enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the one-dollar Happy Hour oysters, four each of three different varieties. They were good, a nice selection. Not the best I've had, they weren't as good as Row 34 or Bostonia Public House, but still very nice and the Happy Hour specials are 4-6 and 9-10 pm.

I had walked past this place for several years without noticing it. I started going there about 2 months ago. It is just great. It is a tiny, authentic place that makes you feel like you stepped back in time. The coffee is great and Elliot is a pleasure to talk to. A much more pleasant experience than coffee chainstores. Go here!

Loved the escargot with cheese on top!

Recommended by friends and did not disappoint. Stopped in for an afternoon break. Unique (and entertaining!) cocktail menu. Diverse menu and our choices were outstanding. Try to catch dollar oysters and mussels from 4-6.

Had not been in years (decades). Love the location and physical layout of restaurant. Oysters for $1 after 4pm at the bar. Great deal. Had dinner upstairs in what used to be an outdoor patio now glassed in. Food was very good. Wine list solid. Waiter friendly and good but needed some experience. Looking forward to going back

We had a large group dinner upstairs and the food was excellent. We constrained the menu, but it was fantastic. I especially enjoyed the salmon.

Cold and windy but Marliave was only 100 feet from Nine Zero our new favorite Boston hotel.Nice old fashioned atmosphere, good service and prices. Cassolet was quite good with a duck leg, chunk of pork, sausage in beans and sauce.Lobster thermador so so.. lobster meat in a cheesy sauce served in a skillet lacked taste and presentation.Steak/frite o k.Wine list needs an update but overall satisfactory.

Stopped in here on our first day in Boston for a late lunch. Nice cozy atmosphere. Wife had fish and chips. I had the shrimp cocktail and some raw oysters-all are sold ala carte-kinda expensive. But here is the deal. Go here for Happy Hour starting at 4pm.. They have like 4 different kinds of oysters for $1.00 each. We ended up ordering three dozen for $36.00 and they were at least as good as the best I have ever eaten in my life! You will not find a better deal on raw oysters in Boston. If you are from the South, you are used to eating raw oysters with saltine crackers. You wont find them at the oyster joints in Boston so stop in a local market and buy some to take in the restaurant. They dont care.

My friend recommended Marliave as one of the best restaurants in town and my expectations were high.... I had the scampi with shrimps and nothing special... very small portion.... regular service, i had to ask the hostess for salt bc my waitress simply disappeared The brunette hostess was very friendly

So many options! Met friends for dinner here last night. Cool space, lots of stairs, if that's an issue. Big menu, basically French, but some Italian options (scampi, risotto, picata) and "generic" items, too. Good Charcuterie and cheese options to start. Very good salads and "chicken under a brick", too. I had the Steak Frites (when in France . . .). Excellent frites, although 15% or so of the steak was solid gristle. Service was excellent.

Four of us had a memorable meal last night here after a matinee! Over the years, my spouse and I have often enjoyed a lively and elegant dinner in the upstairs dining room, but we were early and grabbed a comfortable and more casual booth downstairs by the bar. The service is friendly and attentive in either space, and we all enjoyed our choices — whether it was the well-prepared steak and fries, the hearty cassoulet, or the gnocchi with meat sauce. Good wine selection, too. Also, dining before 6 pm meant we were able to enjoy the $1 freshly shucked oysters (three kinds), which were absolutely delicious! Looking forward to going back again soon . . .

The Marliave Espresso bar is a dope place to go. Quality coffee, they remember your names and orders even if you go once a month. Andrew & his staff are like a little family and show a lot of love every time I go here. Breakfast sandwiches are the MF Cats Pajamas! Get any of em and you will be satisfied! They also have good pizza for $1 and beignets. Not sold yet? Just shut up and go. I'll see you there!

Best espresso bar near Downtown Crossing! Not super easy to find. Andrew and Helio serve espresso drinks, tea, and sandwiches to a crowd of mostly regulars that they know by name. Very friendly atmosphere that keeps area workers coming back every day.
