Excellent food and service. The steak tartare, oysters, shrimp, salads... all were very good. Excellent.

Repeated mistakes and poor understanding of vegan dining — disappointing for a 5-star hotel restaurant.

I’ve been to this restaurant three times, hoping the experience would improve, but each visit has been frustrating and far below what you’d expect from a world-class hotel.

First visit: I ordered pasta with marinara sauce, which came with cheese. I finished the meal before realizing the mistake, and afterward, the server mentioned that I was “gluten-free” and told me I couldn’t have dessert because of that — even though I had clearly said I was vegan. That level of misunderstanding is unacceptable in a high-end restaurant.

Second visit: I clearly told the server I’m vegan and to exclude honey. The dish still came with honey, showing poor communication and lack of care.

Third visit: The menu listed EVOO (extra virgin olive oil), but the server incorrectly told me it contained egg — another basic misunderstanding of ingredients.

The food itself is fine, but the service is inconsistent and staff are not properly trained on dietary needs or ingredients. For a 5-star hotel, this is disappointing.

To make things worse, one server added an automatic 18% gratuity for a party of five, even though the menu clearly states it only applies to six or more — which is not acceptable or legal.

This restaurant needs serious improvement in staff training, food knowledge, and communication. It does not meet the expectations of a world-class establishment.

They must have been understaffed, we didn't see a server till 20 min after we got seated. My wife got the white truffle pasta. I was expecting a really high quality dish for $60. It was so bland and tasted basically like some buttered pasta you would cook at home for your kids, it should have been covered in fresh shaved truffle at that price. Very disappointed in the overall experience.

Chef does not know what he is doing. Tonno cotto served covered in cheese? Octopus very tough and drenched in some kind of weird sauce. Would not recommend this place.

Chef does not know Italian cuisine. Roasted octopus not charred and tough, Tonno crudo covered with cheese? fried artichoke with heavy breading.

Service was exceptional! Armstrong, our waiter, was very friendly, fun and knowledgeable.
David, the manager, was the same.
Just a spectacular experience.
We sat inside as it was chilly out but we have to go back in the warmer months to sit outside and enjoy the views.
The Piedmont steaks were very tender and tasty! I got the NY Strip and my wife got the Rib Eye.
Simply spectacular.

All these stars are for the staff, especially Vee, truly one of the best bar tenders around! You can’t go there and not ask for him.

I had high expectations walking into Matria, given its fine dining label and the prices on the menu. Unfortunately, the experience was a major letdown.

The seafood pasta looked and tasted like something reheated from a buffet line in the back. The risotto arrived looking sad and uninspired, while the shrimp, scallops, and lobster were so dry it felt like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The pastas themselves tasted like they were cooked by someone still training to be a sous-chef—far from what you’d expect from a professional kitchen, let alone one charging fine dining prices.

This is not the kind of place you’d want to bring friends or family to impress them—you will walk away disappointed, and that’s a fact. We came for my brother-in-law’s birthday, hoping for a memorable meal, but instead got mediocrity at best.

The service was equally underwhelming: not terrible, but absolutely average, which is unacceptable in a setting that claims to be upscale.

Overall, Matria was a horrible experience that I would not repeat. God have mercy on anyone expecting world-class dining here—it’s simply not happening.

The food was outstanding! Fresh and flavorful dishes from start to finish — tuna tartare, crispy starters, seafood rice, and even s’mores by the fire. Drinks were great, service was excellent, and the whole experience was memorable. Highly recommend!

11/10. Truly outstanding. The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere unmatched, with the best views of the Boston Tea Party site… but what made our evening unforgettable was our waiter, Ayoub. From the moment we were seated, he elevated the entire experience. His professionalism, warmth, and genuine attentiveness made us feel like we were the most important table in the room. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, and every recommendation he made was spot-on. Ayoub didn’t just provide service, he created a dining experience on par with the finest establishments in the world. His exceptional care is exactly what sets Boston’s best fine dining apart. Thank you for a wonderful date night, we will be back.

We expected more from an Intercontinental dining experience. Our waiter had a limited knowledge of the wines and recommended a demi lambrusco when we asked for a dry wine. We also were pouring our own wine and water refills all night. Overall our food had some hits, we had the summer burrata and branzino that were incredible, but the carne was uninspired and fell flat. I think our waiter forgot about us and we were not offered a dessert menu. After 20 minutes of our plates having been cleared we asked for the check.

We had really been looking forward to this after reading reviews, but overall the experience was lackluster.

Place is an absolute chaos!!! Ate here twice, both times I had to call the server to place the order. The restaurant is not well managed. Owners need to take notice! This could be a hidden gem but not with the way it’s being managed

Our group of 10 really enjoyed our lunch at Matria. The portions were very generous and the taste was perfect. The servers were all so friendly and helpful, especially Ferney. We were sad to hear it was the last time they would be serving lunch menu. They will only serve breakfast and dinner going forward. I hope they bring back the lunch menu. I would definitely come back and recommend to others.

There was a bug in the fruit buffet table in which they said they’d give us more fruit for the table, which never came. Next, by the time the eggs Benedict came out, everyone else at my table was finished with their meal. And there was a small hair in my food as well.

We enjoyed every moment we spent at the IHG and this was enhanced by the sensational folks and food at Matria. We fell in love with the wine selection, specifically the Punta Crena Pignato. the menu is a concise and lovely assortment, and we loved the apps, the foccacia, and the strawberry mousse.
the team here makes the experience that much more special. whether we visited for lunch or dinner, we were met by great smiles and personalities that could not have been more inviting.
