Well, My hisand I go to Maxine’s every Friday for seafood some type of seafood catfish or haddock he loves greens and I love the string beans with a little macaroni and cheese and Black Eyed Peas and rice. I’m telling you we always have a good time on Fridays. The food quality is amazing atmosphere is always amazing and you could tell they put their heart into what they do, grateful for some down-home food

I would like to share that if you don't have something on the menu, please take it off the app, I ordered 3 banana pudding, 2 different days and did not receive them. if this is a popular item please made more, or take it off the menu for delivery.
I will not be ordering from this place again and i will be telling other people about the bad service, and unavailable product.

The Narrator
I was starving and decided to order from Maxine's again because the food is always good. After I placed the order and went back to work, a half hour later I got a notification though GrubHub that the order was canceled for some reason. When I called the restaurant the person that answered the phone, who sounded young like a young male immediately cut me of after I said a "Grubhub order" and told me that they "ran out of meat and didn't want to send just anything.", which I get. My issue is how did they not this realize a half hour into the order. The food was supposed to be here in 45 minutes so I don't understand how the prep of the food started a half hour after the order was received. This is very irritating to me because they could have called me, told me this and gave me an option of something of equal value rather than have me waste a half hour waiting on food that would never come. The young dude that answered told me when I called to go on the app and order something else which I didn't end up doing because I didn't want to run the risk of this happening again and I was very annoyed at the casual attitude he had about his mistake. Probably won't be ordering from them for a while. It's a shame. The food is pretty good.

Don't let that small little door fool you, there is some big incredible food beyond that facade.....
As a Southern boy born and raised, I home with this meatloaf pole boy and sweet mashed potatoes... I can't wait for a trip back through town.
I have eaten here at least 6 times. The food is usually good. One lousy piece of fish. Right now, the crushed red potatoes look dirty, dark, mushy, and they taste disgusting; I have had these at least 3 times. Too easy to get right. The Mac and cheese suddenly went left with some strange taste. The banana pudding was absolutely disgusting, gritty, mushy, and the cheese grits were thick and old. I will not be eating here again. You are doing too much with the seasoning and messing up basic dishes you should have mastered by now. You even messed up the iced tea. It has a strange taste and this tea used to be delicious. And get some real hot sauce. It isn’t too much to put black folks hot sauce in a container. Never again and I mean that. I can cook this better myself.
I am a huge supporter of Black Owned business. I'm the spread the word person. I have tried with Maxine's especially during Covid etc. but on numerous occasions they just get things wrong and the care they once had gas gone out the window. Back to Slades I go. They are consistent.
Never been and never will, I guess if you have children and they get sick and you can’t come into work they punish you… find a better restaurant who genuinely has a family atmosphere and not one who pretends to have it… disgusting!!
