Formerly loyal, now fed up.
McKenna’s used to be a reliable neighborhood spot, but their new billing practices are downright deceptive. They now tack on an automatic 18% gratuity plus other fees at the initial credit card charge—without informing customers. The receipt still includes a tip line, so like me, you might unknowingly double tip for a basic breakfast. That’s not just sneaky—it’s abusive.
I’ve supported this place for years, but this kind of quiet gouging is a dealbreaker. If you value transparency, walk three minutes to Harp & Bard or Honeycomb Café—both offer good food without the hidden charges

I've only ever ordered through DD or UE. I used to order from here sometimes , since our local diner in Quincy shut down. However, I don't know if they changed the ingredients, chefs, the food is phenomenal!!The breakfast is so good! Home fries, perfectly seasoned and cooked. Also the protions easily split a meal between 2. 🫶🏻

I don't usually do breakfast reviews but I had to do this one, I was seated and looked at the menu I saw a senior/ little league plate which I asked for the waitress would tell me it's for kids I told her it says senior and explained to her I had it before and there was no problem she went on to tell me that I cannot order that I changed me order to a short stack of pancake and side of ham , the pancake was a bit stiff at the edges , we had to ask for more coffee which my waitress did bring left had to get her attention for some creamer for coffee , a while later she came and just rest the bill on the table, I had to get her attention for a to go box for my left overs cause due to dietary restrictions I cannot eat all my food , brought the box with no plastic bag had to get someone else attention to get a plastic bag , the waitress never check in on me to ask how was everything , if I needed anything else nothing on top of that for 2 people they charge me 18% gratuity for what lousy service , not forgetting today is my Birthday and this is how my day started, I was a waitress before in a breakfast dinner which you gave great service because you are depending on tips but I guess charging people 18% gratuity they don't have to gave great service cause their tip is guaranteed , this will be my last visit to this establishment.

Took over an hour for my food to leave the restaurant I finally get it and it's cold I will never order from here again and I don't recommend anyone else to do it either not worth the hype not worth the aggravation or the trouble

Weren’t even acknowledged that we had been standing there 15 minutes to be seated. Plenty of space but not a word from any staff? I’m sure the food is good and the experience is better sometimes but yikes

Since moving here, our daughter comes here every weekend. She loves the food. It is always fresh. We can. I had the avocado wrap that was delicious. My husband had the oatmeal which was wonderful and my daughter had the vegetarian omelette. The place is very charming inside kid friendly I hope you’ll stop by. The food is delicious.

Great place to visit for breakfast or lunch while visiting Boston. We had McKenna's Breakfast Special, McKenna's Burger, steak wrap, BLT and potato salad for a late lunch prior to going to airport. Excellent service and food!

Love this place. It’s a staple for me everytime I’m in Dorchester. Great food, great staff and excellent ice coffee. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend!!

Since this is breakfast place, the lines out the door on the weekend are excessive. There are other places to go, not sure why people bother waiting, it's not even that great. They also don't have vegan options.
