I didn’t hear about this place until I saw people walking around with boxes. I decided to go check them out. There were about 100 people waiting in line when I arrived. The line moved fairly quickly. It was cash only, but you can order online in advance so I chose to do that. The pasties themselves were nothing special, canollis were not fresh, donut was stale. There are better pasties in Boston, not worth the wait.
The reputation is deserved. I especially enjoyed the incredible peanut butter brownie and carrot cake slice that I ordered, but I can't imagine you'd go wrong with any other item from the case that catches your eye.
There is no seating, literally, not a single table or chair for customers in the whole building, not one. Don't even bother if you want to enjoy your pastry's there, you will have to stand and eat them. So walked a few doors down to Modern Pastry, they had great coffee drinks and basically the same pastries with seating and table service. About 40 people at Modern Pastry tonight, 2 people in Mike's, and they we kneeling on the ground eating their pastries. We saw...
