I will certainly miss this place. They had the best traditional Viet dishes and many that I could not find elsewhere. My favorite dishes were curry noodle soup and the dry noodles with BBQ pork. Bun Bo Hue was very good as well.

Sad that Boston's Chinatown will lose the best place to have avocado smoothies

*** 5/2019 *** It was hot, so I decided to treat myself to a watermelon shake at New Dong Khanh. $3.50 for the smaller size. Turns out, I wasn't the only one! So I had to wait for the folks who arrived before me to be served before I spotted one of the two behind the counter sticking watermelon wedges into a blender with a spoon and a half of sugar, and a scoop of ice cubes. It was tasty, but the ice was chunkier and crunchier than I prefer. Found out that they use powder for green tea, almond, and taro drinks. *** 7/2019 *** My friend prefers the pork chops at New Dong Khanh over that of Pho Pasteur. *** 8/4/2019 *** I wished New Dong Khanh a fare thee well with my final meal here of pork chop over fried rice with fried eggs. It was my first time getting either adjustment to the meal. They were terribly sweet in offering a 10% discount on this their final day, and then celebrating later that night with cake and milk tea on the house. Actually, my very last DK meal was an order of their lemongrass chicken to go. The huge chicken leg was terrifically moist, and a satisfying end to this era.

I was very sad to learn this place was closing it's doors. I used to come here all the time for bubble tea and knew I had to come back one last time. My all time favorite is the mango bubble tea.

good drinks and good food! Standard pho and vermicelli entrees, definitely cured my cravings. Portions are not huge like other places but prices are good! We got the thai tea and milk black tea with bubbles and jelly. thai tea was good but the milk black tea was a little bland and watery. Overall, would come again esp since it's like one of the only vietnamese places near by. Nothing extraordinary but still good wholesome food that will satisfy your cravings for a decent price!

Very authentic Viet food, but cash only making it only 4 stars. Ordered the Bun Mam which is extremely tasty, like the rest on the menu. Service was good as well. Definitely high on the list of must try Viet place.

One of my favorite places to get bubble tea in Chinatown. They have lots of different smoothies, teas, etc. and different toppings including boba, jellies, and pudding. They're efficient and the boba is always perfectly cooked. Price is slightly cheaper than other bubble tea places in the area, but cash only!

This place is very crowded for boba milk tea and smoothie. The kids love this place. We ordered some dinner and it wasn't too bad. However, my rice noodle and the meat are very dry. The egg noodle tasted much better. I also ordered a durian smoothie (I know not everyone is crazy about durian) and it was very good. I'd come back just for the smoothie. Food was just so so.

Food was bland, pho texture was not the usual authentic type. But the bubble tea was nice, tho a bit expensive.

To set the table, I am a Vietnamese American from Southern California who frequents Little Saigon for Vietnamese cuisine. I was over in Boston for a trip and opted to try the Vietnamese food here. Using Yelp, I came across New Dong Khanh with plenty of reviews at 4 stars. We ordered the Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu and I was very disappointed. I these dishes were sub-par compared to truly authentic Vietnamese food. The soup broths were bland and ingredients were second-rate. For example, the pork blood had a rubbery texture as opposed to breaking apart more easily. At the very least, I expected something a little better given the hundreds of reviews which gave this restaurant 4 stars. I left feeling unsatisfied so if you want a truly honest and accurate review, here it is.

I ordered pho tai Nam, bun rieu, bun bo hue, cha gio and avacado smoothie. The food was not authentic at all. I'm sorry but that was the worst pho I have ever tasted in my life. The noodles were hard and the brisket felt like it needs another hour of cooking time. Bun rieu looks like they add food coloring and the meat was tough. Bun bo hue.. the color was more like Banh Canh . Hardly any meat. Cha gio seems like it was vegetarian. Taste funny. The only thing that tasted right was the smoothie. I think 2 stars is already generous.

It's good enough, worth a try once

The worst restaurant ever in Boston. The foods were not so great, and the servers' attitude was so unfriendly. Especially, the man--who seemed an owner--was terrible. I won't definitely go there and won't recommend it to anyone!

Talk about authentic Vietnamese food. Spent the majority of my trip going to a bunch of Vietnamese restaurants, mostly because my family consisted of an older generation. We finally stumbled on one that the family could agree was good. The prices were great and the food was authentic. Parking is tough as usual, however worth the trouble.

This is one of the best spots in Chinatown for amazing food and a great deal. I usually love to get pho (~$7-9) and a Thai iced tea (~$2.5). The food is great, service is fast and people are nice even if they may be rushed.
