We were the fourth 4top in the waiting to be seated que. More than 10 2tops were seated arriving after us and prior to our seating. No availability at the bar either. We were waiting so long that our table had already been turned over prior while we were there. They could have easily condensed 2 2tops to make a temporary 4top but didn’t. If you are a party of two, you will be wisked right in and sat down. If three or four you may have to wait an hour. I wonder if a group of five or more will be turned away. I will never recommend or return, my sisters were regulars. Sad sad sad

My family has lived in West Roxbury since my great grandparents came over. It’s in my blood. And just about everything I love and hate about it is encapsulated in two cafes. On the Decelle’s side of the street (iykyk) there’s the past: a cafe where your elderly Uncle Jimmy gums his unseasoned scrambled eggs. On the other side, near the old Mobilgas, there’s Rox Diner.

I love this for us. Nothing else in Boston comes close. There might not be a better breakfast in New England. There’s probably a better breakfast joint in the US but I haven’t been there yet.

Here in West Roxbury we don’t do “elevated.” We just do it best. Best eggs benny, best omelette, best freakin home fries. Not the best coffee, but you never get good coffee and good food at the same diner - law of the universe.

And best atmosphere. It makes me so happy to see Black people, queer people and first-generation Americans relaxed, happy, and enjoying good food in a neighborhood that has historically been racist AF. (West Roxbury, I love you but you know that it’s true.)

What really stands out though, is the people. When our server noticed that I’d barely touched my meal today, she worried that I didn’t like my food. When I told her that it was delicious but that I’d just received some bad news, she gave me the most heartfelt pep talk and packed my food to go. It meant so much, and really brightened my day. That’s West Roxbury at its best, and I’m so grateful for her.

Traditional. Modern. Inclusive. Delicious. West Roxbury. ❤️

We finally came back to The Rox after 6 years. They are still fantastic. At times they have a line, but you can put your name on the waitlist online.

A group of us went there last Sunday. The food was not good. There were about 7 of us. Everyone after complained of the lack of taste. Don't know what the pancakes are made of, but I didn't even eat them after the first bite. Our service was descent. But the utensils were just all thrown together in the middle of the table on a napkin, not even separated. The waitress got water on the back of the woman sitting next to me when she reached over to place water on the table. We all still left a tip for her, but she never even came back to the table. Maybe she sensed that we were not pleased with the food. I'm not sure how this place has 4,6 stars, but everyone's palet is different. We are glad that we experienced it, but we won't be back.

We’ve been going here for many years. Great food and service, local chill ambience simply the best. Everything on the menu is delicious! And for coffee lovers, they don’t mind if you get barista quality coffee across the street from Recreo — coffees prepared from beans imported from the family farm in Nicaragua.

I'm sort of picky about my sausages and home fries. It doesn't mean they weren't good I just prefer different styles.

Parking: The whole area has been revamped for the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists. I'm not sure if there is more parking elsewhere.

Kid-friendliness: Seemed very welcoming with the kids I saw come through the door.
