We stayed at the Onyx for 4 nights and ate breakfast here each morning. It is a buffet Monday and Tuesday and the rest of the week guests order from a menu. The lady serving (Arlene?) was very friendly and helpful but I felt that this place had gone downhill since we stayed in 2016. For starters, I know space is limited but putting the bacon in the same dish as the potatoes is surely inappropriate? We are both vegetarians and that made it difficult for us to get much of a breakfast for the money it cost. The scrambled egg was good and there was toast and pastries available but keeping meat and non meat dishes apart is surely a no brainer? The situation in the evenings was even worse. On our first ngiht there was nobody in sight in the bar so we concluded ti was closed, there being no indication of opening hours anywhere. On our second day I asked reception if we could see the dinner menu as we were entertaining our nephew. He printed it off for us and it looked as if there was at least one dish we could eat. During wine hour we were sitting at a table near the entrance and the waiter was placing menus on the tables. A quick glance revealed it bore little resemblance to the one we had been given earlier. My husband asked the chap politely whether that was the menu for the evening and he said yes. On being told it wasn't the one we'd been given earlier he shrugged and said 'that's all we got' in a take it or leave it tone of voice. We quickly searched online for a restaurant nearby. It wasn't so much the menu but the attitude that rattled us. On our last ngiht we took our nephew to a very nice Italian restaurant. Returning to the hotel we decided to have a drink in the Ruby room before he went back to his flat. My husband ordered a beer, my nephew a coke and I asked for a coffee and a glass of port. The order arrived without the port. My husband called the waiter over ( a different one from the one above)and got the response ' I didn't know what that was.' This was despite there being a chocie of 3 ports on the drinks menu. More importantly, who ignores an order because they don't know what it is? All in all very unsatisfactory. It's a shame because the hotel is otherwise fine and I feel this place lets it down.

Excellent night, Bon Jovi concert and delicious ruby red grapefruit martinis. Bartender was attentive and had a great sense of humor.

Went here for a pulled pork sandwich, after just arriving in Boston. The sandwich was really good, but it was missing a bit of bbq sauce. Service was excellent

Thank you for your review and kind remark about the service. We'll be sure to add more BBQ sauce to our pulled pork to make it even more flavorful.
