Sabina has been open for a year and last weekend I finally got a chance to visit. Went there with a friend and we’d initially thought of just getting drinks but their menu was quite interesting so we tried a few appetizers. My friend had the Cuadrito de lechon which he mentioned was fantastic. I had the Esquite tostada which was presented very well and tasted great. We got a Guacamole to share and it was amazing!

Coming to drinks, my tamarind Margarita was top notch! I can’t remember the names of other drinks we tried but it was delicious!

I know that Newbury St is packed with places to go so it takes a whole lot more to be a standout, Sabina’s is one of those standouts for sure.

Great spot with a cute outdoor patio and a friendly bar. Cocktails were interesting and the house made blue corn tortillas were great. Salsas were delicious and the salsa verde even had a little heat to it.

The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and nice decor, making it a good spot to enjoy a meal. The food was decent, though not exceptional. However, the experience was overshadowed by poor service from one of the waitresses, who served us with a bad attitude and unfriendly demeanor. Improving the service would greatly enhance the overall dining experience.

It has a nice atmosphere and the decoration is good. The food was acceptable, although not outstanding. However, the experience was affected by the poor service of one of the waitresses, who served us with a bad face and an unprofessional attitude (the one with long hair). It would be ideal if the service improved so that the entire experience would be much more satisfactory.

Was pleasantly surprised by this little Mexican gem on Newbury Street. I enjoyed everything I tried, and the dishes were atypical and creative with spices leaning towards Asian cuisine. The tuna tostada was tasty with some hints of soy sauce and the octopus was tender and had a hint of Indian spices. Our margaritas were also quite fresh and well balanced. The patio was really nice on a beautiful night, and the bar inside was fun as well. I would come back again to try a few other dishes and certainly for their margaritas!

We were excited to see this place along Newbury St but do not feel that it is a fair representation of mezcal. Their menu is mostly espadin's from larger producers. They should provide more of a variety, especially various bottles of El Jolgorio that support small batch productions. There was one arroqueno they were out of, one Jabali that was pretty good and the Coyote which was excellent. This is a pretty important location in a major US city. For now, 4/5 stars with the potential to be perfect with an improved selection. Staff is excellent as well as decor.

Mexican approved ? we basically tried all cocktails, all of them were really good, there's options for people who like sweet cocktails, spicy, and bitter cocktails.
We had the chicharron de arrachera and it was quite good. The tortillas themselves were really tasty.

Overall, I thought the Sabina Mezcaleria was a good experience and conveniently located on Newbury Street. Our party was seated outdoors, which had very nice tables and chairs. There were a lot of drink and food options. Everything was sharable; however, one issue was the portion size and specificity of the menu listing out which plates contained one item to share versus multiple items. For example, the crispy soft-shell taco only contains one taco. The patatas bravas were quite small portion compared to other similar restaurants. The mini tostadas de atun were actually the same size as esquite tostada; and both contained 3 tostadas, but are labelled differently. The flavors of the dishes were quite good and after ordering 5-6 plates for a party of 3, it was filling. But the total price was high, including the smaller cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. If partaking non-alcoholic options, I recommend the house made lemonade over the mineral lemonade, which is the same size, except a portion of it is just sparkling water. The service could be more attentive, but there were many tables that all got seated at once. Overall, this is a nice place for a date or if you're feeling peckish. A bit pricey, but so are many different restaurants on Newbury St.

If you are Mexican you will love this place! The food was delicious. The ingredients and flavor really are Mexican. If you are not Mexican you will get an excellent idea.

Vegetarian options: Tamale, huitlacoche empanada, asparagus soup, beet carpaccio. Everything delicious ??

The picture is what they bring to the table as you sit down. Nothing like tasteless, stale, passive agression to start a meal.

We ordered cocktails first.

The Spicy mezcalita was so bad, we decided not to order anything beyond the first round of drinks. Couldn't taste anything other than salt. It was objectively , to everyone at my table who tried it, garbage. And the waiter managed to spill it down my leg as he was serving it.

They are lucky I tipped on principal.

This place isn't an award winning mezcal bar, it's a comedy club. Because what they serve is an overpriced joke.

It's also so dark you will trip down the stairs coming in from a sunny day.

Good luck if you choose to try it.

Food was underwhelming but very interesting. Soft shelled crab taco was pretty tasty but the guacamole tasted too sour. Drinks were very good, food is definitely catered as light snacks alongside drinks. Atmosphere was very pleasant both inside and outside. Come here for drinks not food!

This place is almost great, but unfortunately lets itself down in a couple of key areas:
1) Service is not great - had the wrong items brought several times, and the wrong items on the bill. The food for the table came out whenever it was ready rather than in any planned way and was spaced over the period of about an hour which meant some of us had everything we ordered half an hour before others received anything they had ordered.
2) Arrangement and price of the items on the menu - all the dishes are quite small and quite expensive, but some of them are REALLY SMALL, and this has no clear connection to the cost or placement on the menu. Same goes for the cocktails.
The good news is that the food and drinks we had were very tasty, so if they can sort out their service issues, menu and prices then there is hope

Small tapas menu, but everything is excellent. Highly recommend the beef tacos, the soft shell crab taco, the sopes and the corn tostados. Mezcalitas are brilliant, especially the tamarind and an wide range of tequilas and mezcals

If you are into Mezcal, this might be a good place to try out. The bar is located downstairs. There is a small outdoor seating area. The cocktails are well executed though they are pricey compared to the small glasses they are served in. I was a little bit on the fence with the food. In general, the food was a little bit rich for my taste. Too much oil, too much mayonnaise, etc. I think what I was missing was freshness. We also tried the special, effectively tuna sashimi, which was excellent. We also tried the grasshoppers which were crunchy but effectively the only thing you taste is the spicy seasoning. Cute but can be skipped. The staff was very friendly and proactive.
