Look no further if you want an old-fashioned local lunch spot. Just good food straight from grandma’s kitchen.
Amazing hole in the wall spot. Foods awesome, and the staff is fun. It’s clearly a family spot and if that’s the vibe you’re looking for it’s perfect.
Cant recommend enough
Love this place pale girl that traps around here is so kind to me too kind some may say. Good service i liked the girl ava alot let her know for me somebody out there
We wanted a hole in the wall place. Locals were just hanging out, drinking coffee and enjoying the crisp fall day. The sandwiches are just like your mom would make you and large enough for two people. It was the perfect spot!
I've been to Sal's because Anna, the owner, is from my same town in Italy. She is a lovely lady and with a big heart.

I can see why the place would get a bad rap due to how it looks and seems. But the lady was as wonderful as they come and clearly takes care into making the hot food from scratch. Would recommend the meatball sub as she makes them and the sauce everyday.

Nice elderly lady working making the food but this is probably the most unsanitary, dirty, filthy restaurant I’ve EVER been in. It’s like a horder house mixed with food. The woman who was working needs staff to help her keep it clean since she is not.

We were hot & tired after walking around The Freedom Trail...& Sal's was just what we needed. So glad that we got off the beaten path & ducked down this side street. My husband got a meatball sub & I just got a turkey/cheese sandwich. We each got a can of soda...that were ice cold! There was a lady behind the little counter fixing the food & who I presume was her grown daughter that was popping in & out. And there was a guy outside on the street...who was talking about the Red Sox with people...who thanked us for coming as we left. Our kind of place!!

When I stopped by in the morning there was a hand written sign opened but the door was closed and nobody was inside. Seems like the place is permanently closed

The negative reviews on here are as dense as they come haha. Me and friends found this nice little hole in the wall while looking for any where to eat after the celtics parade that didnt have a line down the street lol. I thought it was closed due to its outer view but i noticed this blonde hair tatted guy walk in and convinced my friends to check it out. Man was it a god send given we were starving. The owner and her mother have excellent customer service and the guy that walked in happened to be her son who was helping out. I got a steak and cheese and my friends got cheeseburgers and a grilled cheese at a solid price as idk anywhere in boston you can get a cheese steak for 10 bucks and burgers for 6 dollars. The whole family was so nice and the set up looked makeshift but felt so kosher. They take cash as usual and have phone to tap for credit cards. Definitely recommend if you need something quick, easy, and affordable especially if other businesses are packed to the brim. Given its at the tip of the north end your not too far from some delicious bakeries and pizza shops if your in the mood for slice instead. This place like alot of the north end have been around forever and give that piece of a staple boston history and made my visit that much better after having a blast celebrating our champions win ☘️??

This is a great place from an original N. End family. Old school/neighborhood place. This isn't your upscale, exaggerated Italian food on Hanover St. Great chicken Parm subs, quality ingredients and great old school feel.
