Mediocre food, but excellent service. Surprisingly kid friendly, very accommodating kitchen.
We had a very upsetting experience at your restaurant in Boston. When our toddler spilled a small amount of pasta on the tablecloth — which is a completely normal thing for a child — one of the waitresses made a disgusted face while clearing the table. It was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. Another waiter witnessed this and simply said, “I know,” instead of stepping in or apologizing. No one took responsibility or even tried to be kind. As parents, we felt humiliated and judged for something so minor.
What’s worse — despite how uncomfortable we felt — we still left more than a $50 tip out of principle. Our check was $260 and we always treat staff with respect, but this behavior was unacceptable. No family should be made to feel unwelcome because they have a child. Shame on your staff for their coldness and lack of empathy.
Best Ceasars Salad I've ever had.
Great food, good service and easy access. Located at an old prison facility makes it an interesting add on novelty.
It’s not bad but there were issues with each dish. For a place like this you’d expect better.
Lovely place, great Italian food. Service was awesome.
There's a certain vibe when you walk into Scampo, it does feel like a hotel restaurant that's a bit more calmer than you would expect from Boston’s culinary matriarch Lydia Shire. It’s not trending with lines out of the door given it debuted inside the Liberty Hotel in 2008 or competing with the Italian heavyweights in the North End, but Scampo is definitely well-regarded and respected in the city. You can understand that respect from the food and service, everything is reliably good and you’re guaranteed an enjoyable meal. Are there bells and whistles, life-changers, or memorable dishes? Maybe not so much. But the food is good, I would go again and try new things. The service is attentive and knowledgeable, Brian is what took this experience up a notch with his recommendation of brick chicken.
Stopped in for a Mother's Day lunch. We had a reservation, so we were seated promptly. Service was attentive with casual elegance. We selected from the special Mother's Day Menu. Our starter was a Caesar salad. Entrees included chicken, pasta carbonara, gluten-free spaghetti, and a gnocchi plate with mussels. All were delicious. Full bar and extensive wine list available. Wood fired oven for pizzas. Lovely atmosphere in a unique historic setting.
Splendid and phenomenal experience at Scampo. The food was top notch and delicious, I recommend the lobster pizza. For dessert, recommend Tiramisu and Pelan cake. One of the most unique and flavorful pizzas I’ve had. If you fancy a safe option, carbonara is great. The cocktails are incredibly good, I recommend autumn ash (10/10) and our classic Fresca.

Authentic. Great place for dinner. Everything from the food to the service is brilliant. I let the bartender order for me, and considering how often I eat out... this place is a stand-out. Think about it....when was the last time you had homemade Pecan Cake? And, it was spectacular. Do not miss this place if you have the chance.

I used to love this place. Its a cool setting with an interesting history...used to be a jail. Last time I went...meh. 400 bucks for 3 people...food should have been exceptional. Instead much of it was luke warm. The foie gras was good but came with nothing in the way of bread, lamb chops burnt...black...literally. I was surpised they sent it out...my daughter's gnocchi was undercooked...tasted like flour and water. Huge disappointment on the food. If I spent 200 I wouldn't have left a review as it happens. The service was good...as it has always been. This was a Saturday night though. Food should have been cooked correctly. For the prices they command, the kitchen should get it right as there are dozens of great restaurants in Beantown with better food for half the price. Feeling a bit "had" on this experience. My guess...the chef was not in the house this past Saturday.

When we sat down my wife cut her hand because there was broken glass on the seat. Now; that’s a shame, but the way the handled it was so apathetic - as if it was her fault that she was now bleeding. Then the wine wasn’t what was on the menu, twice - and they argued that it’s not their problem that the wine they served isn’t what was ordered. And the carbonara has peas, ham, and onions in it, which is just sacrilege.
They had so many chances to fix this, and every time they made it worse. There are fantastic restaurants in the north end, just go there instead of this place.
