Sharon's Kitchen in West Roxbury is easily one of my favorite Korean restaurants in the area, if not my absolute favorite at the moment. The food is always flavorful and fresh, and it keeps me coming back for more.

Some of my go-to dishes are the Crispy Seaweed Noodle Rolls, Japchae, and spicy rice cakes, always extra spicy for me. While I feel like they could take the heat up another notch, maybe they think I’m not ready for the full spice experience. Still, these dishes consistently deliver amazing flavor.

I also enjoy their spicy pork and spicy chicken, though they don’t quite hit the same level of satisfaction for me and my son as the first three dishes.

If you haven’t tried Sharon’s Kitchen yet and you’re a fan of Korean food, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

This is easily our favorite place to eat in the Boston area. I realize we're not always the easiest customers, but regardless of who is working when we arrive, everyone seems to be genuinely friendly, professional, and thoughtful. The food is delicious & affordable, and the atmosphere is so comfortable. I don't know how to praise Sharon Kitchen enough. Going out as a family is a rare treat for us, and it means a lot that the staff works hard to consistently provide an exceptionally positive experience. Thank you!

This place is amazing. The spicy chicken blew me away, and I’ll be coming back for more asap. Gluten free options make it even better.

Good option for fast casual Korean food.

MSG. Many Korean restaurants in Boston tend to shy away from using too much of it, likely due to its negative perception in Korea. The result? Fast-casual Korean dishes often lean heavily on sugar, which leads to a sweeter taste that doesn’t quite match up with their authentic counterparts. Sharon Korean Kitchen isn’t the first place I’ve noticed using MSG, but here, it was unmistakably in the spotlight. While some light appetizers, like dumplings and crispy seaweed noodle rolls, come pre-made, most of the dishes—especially the meats—had a noticeable MSG presence that was hard to miss.

So far, I’ve tried their Kimchi fried rice, spicy beef soup, beef short rib soup, and the bulgogi bibimbap. Aside from the bulgogi, every dish delivered a crazy umami punch. I’m not opposed to MSG in fast-casual kitchens, and Sharon Kitchen’s use of it was well-executed, without being too overwhelming. The Kimchi fried rice and beef soup, in particular, were addictively good—possibly the best versions I’ve had in the city, flavor-wise. Still, it’s hard to give all the credit to the kitchen when MSG is doing most of the heavy lifting.

Overall, the food here reminded me of the quality you'd find at rest stops in Korea, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it’s the perfect spot to satisfy my guilty pleasure for Korean fast food. If you’re not against MSG, I highly recommend giving them a try.
