We booked Shy Bird for lunch following a charity fundraising walk for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation that several of us were doing in Southie (three of our party lives in Southie). We arrived early, but the staff was able to accommodate us, and gave us a super table even though the restaurant was packed. The atmosphere was lively and upbeat.
The service was outstanding. Our waiter, Jack, was great -- very attentive and accommodating. After being served my Chipotle Chicken Breakfast Burrito, I commented to him that I did not think there was much chicken in my burrito. He immediately said they would make a new one, and within minutes, I had a new, improved burrito in front of me. Every other dish (fried chicken sandwiches, fried chicken Caesar wrap, smash burger) was terrific -- ample and delicious. Fabulous chicken.
Minutes later, Kayla, one of the managers, came over to apologize for the problem with the burrito and wanted to make sure I was satisfied. Kayla asked about our t-shirts (promoting the CF walk we'd just completed), and when we told her that we've been participating in the walk for 24 years because a family members has CF, she returned to the table with several of Shy Bird's signature fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies as a lovely gesture to congratulate us! Who does that these days?? The Shy Bird management team does, that's who!
I will return here again and again, for not only the terrific food but for the first-rate service and attention to detail. Thank you, Kayla, Jack and Shy Bird team! Keep up the great work!

We called ahead to ask if we could sit outside for the “Work from Shy Bird” deal. The person I spoke to was honest and helpful and said they weren’t sure if they’d have enough staff to serve out there; but they said it would be fine if we didn’t mind ordering inside. That was totally fine with us so we came down and the server I spoke to on the phone sat us outside. He was very kind and welcoming.
As we were sitting down though I saw a manager follow the server outside sternly whisper something to him. She then came over to us and without introducing herself or even apologizing whatsoever said, “Yeah we’re not seating you outside”
I explained that I had called ahead to confirm. And she said “you can go inside and order take out but we’re not opening the patio today”
We had come for the “Work from Shy Bird” deal, not to order take out. So I said okay and she walked back inside. I was shocked how rude and unapologetic she was given that we even called ahead to confirm outdoor seating and we were totally fine with going inside to order.
This is really disappointing because we have enjoyed the Work from Shy Bird deal but it will be hard to look past this going forward.

Everything about this place has a great vibe. The servers are laid-back but attentive and kind, and the service was fast. I came on a weekday around 3, and it was packed. I was surprised, but it was also my first time, so I didn’t really know what to expect. We were greeted very quickly and took a comfortable seat at the bar. We already knew what we wanted: the Chicken Caesar Wrap.
I would honestly give it an 8 out of 10. There’s no lack of flavor, but I feel like some things could be improved. It’s labeled as a Calabrian Chili Caesar wrap, but there was honestly no spice or noticeable flavor of the chili. The chicken was fantastic, and the presentation was great, but the salad seemed pre-prepared. The lettuce was a little soggy, and the Caesar dressing needed something to make it stand out more. The wrap was grilled perfectly, and don’t get me wrong—I ate the whole thing! These are just my thoughts, and I would still come back to try some other items on the menu.

Extraordinary food! The best Ranch Fried chicken, the fried chicken Ceasars wrap and the best ever Spicy Chipotle bowl! If you haven’t been here, it’s definitely a must stop! Jacob was a wonderful server!

Just ordered $50.00 worth of food and only the salad was edible. My half chicken was RAW, the bread and fries were wet with condensation from the crappy to-go cartons they use and I didn't get any utensils or napkins. Can't eat a salad without a fork. Needless to say, I didn't eat any of it and just wasted 50 bucks. Shy bird, you suck!

After a great WFH experience at Shy Bird Fenway, I was excited to visit their Southie location. The bar was set pretty high by Fenway so I was left mildly disappointed.
Everyone at the Fenway location was super welcoming and friendly, and our server was attentive and went above and beyond. Compared to our experience at Southie, where the hostess seemed like she couldn't care less about being there. There was only one server when we came in around 11am on a Tuesday, and she was also making drinks so it took a while for us to be able to place an order.
I got the Chicken Shawarma Pita, which was decent for a non-Mediterranean restaurant. It came with a huge side of fries, which were nice and crispy. After trying both their WFH breakfast and lunch menus, I'd probably only come back for breakfast.
The space itself is large and has a lot of natural sunlight. It was thoughtful of them to close some of the shades when the sun got too bright though. There are also clean restrooms, fast wifi, and outlets spread out around for easy access.
