Mid-day on a beautiful Monday on Newbury looking for a spot to enjoy lunch; this caught our eye. Beautiful setting. Service was awful. Took forever to be acknowledged, longer for water, even longer for drinks. We almost walked out but decided it wasn’t fair as we had ordered food. Finally arrived and mostly cold. Never any follow-up and had to chase our bill. Observed a couple other tables abandon after too long a wait. We should’ve followed their lead.

I was in for lunch this week and had one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant in Boston. Michael the bartender was amazing. He speaks Portuguese and Spanish and was having trouble with language barriers, and he went above and beyond to accommodate every guest at the bar, even though he was having trouble communicating. I had a hiccup with a security alert on my credit card when I tried to settle my bill, which was a little embarrassing, but things happen. Liz, the foh manager was patient while I waited for a friend to show up and bring me some cash to settle my bill. She even offered a half glass of red wine on the house to calm my nerves while I was waiting nervously to settle my tab. After working in hospitality for years, I understand how difficult it is to deal with the public, especially on Newbury street on a busy lunch push. Liz and Michael made me feel welcome and I will be coming back as soon as I am able (with a working credit card lol). Sometimes all it takes is a little compassion and grace to make guests feel like they’re family. Thank you, sonsie. Can’t wait to see you again.

A few days ago we had the pleasure to take our dinner here.
It was a very nice restaurant and the food was so delicious. It's not the typical daily food, it's a fantastic, homage to enjoyment. All the flavors were perfectly balanced, and the BOSTON CLAM CHOWDER was the best I've ever had. Simply fantastic!

The bar is incredible!!! I asked the bartender Brianna for a good citrusy whiskey…she recommended the “Whiskey Business” which totally hit the spot! It was light, citrusy, but still had a healthy amount of whiskey!!! I HAD to order a second one!!!
