There are places you visit by chance, and others you feel you were meant to find. South End Buttery belongs to the latter.

From the moment I walked in, I knew this wasn’t just a place to have breakfast. I ordered the eggs Benedict, which were perfectly made, and a cup of coffee with a balanced, comforting flavor… but more than the taste, it felt affectionate. Why “affectionate”? Because that’s exactly how I felt from the very beginning: welcomed, cared for, at home.

Three people truly shaped my experience: Valentina, who kindly welcomed and guided me to my seat; Vanessa, my lovely and attentive server; and the manager, whom I briefly met but immediately recognized as the heart behind the outstanding team. It’s not about who was kinder—it’s clear that someone here knows how to choose exceptional people.

The place itself is beautiful—classic, well-kept, with a radiant energy. I didn’t just feed my body; I fed my soul. I left feeling grateful, uplifted, and inspired.

I’m happy to be in Boston, but this place… I will return. Rarely have I left a spot with such a strong desire to come back.

Scone size has been halved leaving the same price, kind of disappointing, I used to grab two scones every time I was in the area but it doesn’t make sense now

This place allows children to run wild throughout the restaurant disturbing everyones morning. Management should tell the parents to control them or leave. Besides that serving coffee in a paper cup is a disgrace. This is not McDonalds although their coffee is less bitter.

Had a great experience at Southend Buttery! The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the food was fresh and delicious. The coffee was excellent too. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done. Definitely coming back!

Chili was mostly tomatoes and peppers. Caprese sandwich was good, but soggy. Mediocre GF bread. GF macaroon was good, sugary, and right next to the gluten brownies.

I highly recommend South End Buttery in Boston. I love the food, the atmosphere, the people there. Went there yesterday, found every dish was so special, creative, full of flavours. The terrace in the sunshine has a very European feel, and also enjoyed the bar afterwards. Such a welcoming place, can’t wait to go again.

The South End Buttery is a bit of a South End institution- it’s the spot everyone tells you to visit there! We went for a Sunday brunch and sat on the patio. It was extremely busy so you do need to reserve. The staff were friendly and brunch was good. My husband got the Buttery Breakfast and the pancakes were so fluffy - really nice. Not cheap but a nice spot for a nice brunch.
