Pretty awful experience here. The entire station smelled awful and was very dirty. There are a lot of unsavory characters roaming around. I did not feel very safe here. I recommend just coming right before your train—no need to lounge here.
Currently under renovation and addition of a new building on top of the train tracks. Very busy, specially during rush hour. They've added a lot of new seating inside the station. There's a CVS store located inside, Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, Regina pizza and few other food places. The post office is right next door. When you walk out the station you are within a walking distance to Boston Children's Musuem and not to far of a walk to the New England Aquarium....
This is one of my most visited train stations. My 2 adult children come here to get to work and school. I love that it not only has the commuter rails that go to a wide variety of places but they also have the Peter Pan Bus terminal and Greyhound. You can also connect to the the Red line. I come here to connect to the greenway. The only negative thing I can say about South Station is that some staff that work on commuter rails later night are rude and not helpful and Amtrak as...
