This is a large event space recently renovated. Usable for corporate events and social. Very attractive and centrally located in Boston

Mitchell Roberts

Cool venue for very large events.

A great little place to go to when you want to have fairs and things would also be a great place to probably host a wedding because of the layout and how everything is. Lots of great fenders and prices were on point to that of a farmers market.

Went for the winter market and it's beautiful. Good vendors and a great way to spend an hour or two. Go upstairs as there are 2 lounges w little bites and drinks.

I went to Sowa Market Christmas and it was magical, there are a lot of things, different brands and the food was delicious

Went to the Winter Market on Sunday. I have been to a lot of markets like this around the world and this is one of the best. The vendors are all genuine artists with great products rather than sales people with cheap imported poor quality trinkets like many other markets. It’s really well run with a great mix of products and services (a bar in every corner!!!). The mulled wine was great. Can’t wait for next year.

Wert for the Rexel customer application dinner. Excellent venue, and the food was outstanding.

Of course "SoWa" means "south of Washington," but acronyms like these sound like something that transplants are trying to force on Bostonians. In any case, this is a former electric power plant dating back to 1891 which energized the precursors to the MBTA, among many other uses. Long since disused, the huge space has been emptied and repurposed to a large events facility 25,000 square feet in size and 60 feet in height. It can accommodate up to 1,500 people and provided a perfect, wide-open, free-form venue for a whiskey tasting festival that I recently attended. Besides being free-form and fully accessible inside, it's otherwise a huge blank slate. There is a kitchen and audio system to support events, plus a large outdoor parking lot to accommodate guests and food trucks. In a neighborhood as dense and storied as the South End, it's a surprisingly huge gem hidden in plain view, and it's fairly convenient to I-93 and I-90. A great way to keep this building alive.

Went there for Whiskey X Boston. They could utilized the space a lot better. It felt crowded and tight. The venue itself is amazing. Very cool look to it. Had to find the place since it was in the back behind a parking lot.

Not sure if this is something management wants or not, but certain staff of the facility seems intent to pour as much drink as possible. I am sure it ran up the bill to the non profit running its fundraiser Monday, and the effect was to ruin drinks as wine poured not same as what in glasses. Bar tender had just poured extra before that happened....seems like a theme they wanted to open as many bottles as possible... If they respond saying will adjust bill to the nonprofit (by at least $400), I will take down the review.

The renovations make the a great spot for an event. We went to the SOWA Winter Festival and it was fantastic. It looks great and the new bathrooms are really nice. It can get pretty busy for a large event so beware of that. I'll definitely be going back.
