Amazing time celebrating a birthday, the staff were all so kind and welcoming, wrote a little happy birthday note, gave us a “birthday cake” of tuna on rice, and made our experience a great one! The fish is the best I’ve had in Boston and I will 100% be coming back - the prices really aren’t bad for the quality of fish you’re getting and if you space it out and listen to recommendations of your server you will leave full and happy! The only thing to note is downstairs it was very very quiet which I think is a nice ambiance for the sushi bar but also could hear other peoples conversations, so maybe turning the music up a little bit downstairs! Could’ve been because it was a Tuesday night and more of a chill vibe though. Overall 10/10 experience :)

We just visited sushi@Temple records for the first time. The quality of the sushi was incredible, but the customer service was especially a stand out.

We were celebrating a milestone birthday, so everyone from the hostess to the waitress to the sushi chefs wished my husband a happy birthday and made sure we were taken care of.

The variety of sushi options are impressive. While we are regular sushi diners and have eaten at some of the best in the world, it's rare to see the breath of sushi as we saw here. In fact we tried a few that we'd never had before (e.g. Sayori). I called in advance to check on some dietary restrictions and they were very kind to accommodate, and had prepared in advance as we discussed. The music here is a standout and the overall ambiance was perfect for an intimate sushi dinner.

One of our favorite parts was chatting with the chef and learning about his recommendations. They ended the night with a special sushi dessert on the house for my husband's birthday!

Way overpriced! $12-24 for single piece of sushi! Crazy. And quality was nothing special. Ate dinner at home after.

The chef curates an amazingly wide variety of fish that goes far beyond the typical sushi restaurant. In fact he maintains a “No Salmon” policy.

This is the place if you are open to trying fish usually only found in Japan. Also excellent seasonal kaiseki-style dishes and Japanese microbrews.

What might one expect from a a subterranean sushi den featuring the all-star Kenta Katagai? Nothing but the best, of course! Chef Katagai belongs to an inner circle of the world's grand masters, channelling all his passion and expertise into his sushi, shaping each and every piece to perfection in view of diners. The decor and service, just like the meal, elevate the silence and purity of the materials used.

My friend and I were excited to dine at this establishment. However, upon our sitting the service and atmosphere were so terrible that we had to walk out before being serviced further. The noise in the place was unbearable - we felt like we were in a loud bar (everyone was yelling) instead of quietly enjoying sushi. The worst part was the service by the waiter. He threw napkins on us upon our sitting when we told him napkins were missing. Then he spilled tea all over the counter without even apologizing. He was not in a shape to serve customers, and we were not going to tolerate his rudeness. Finally, we couldn’t imagine the situation will get any better. So we had to walk out in disgust. We expected more because we had a great time at Temple Record Bar upstairs as well as Somaek restaurant. This visit to Sushi @TempleBar was a huge disappointment.

Amazing experience! Very personalized service, being able to talk with the chef and get a full explanation about the dishes. The food was outstanding, and we got to experience a unique Japanese cuisine.

I've been here twice now and had an amazing experience both times, but most especially this second time. This is a one-of-a-kind dining experience in Boston right now, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend coming here for a special occasion. The way they prepare the unagi and their various mackerel offerings are just fantastic, and the knowledge of the team here and their willingness to share with/educate the visitors brings a meal here to another level. Looking forward to coming again soon.

This is a fairly new cozy sushi place in Boston that jump to my #1 place experience. If you really appreciate the sushi and the delicate taste of raw fish and you can value the work and experience brought by this chef (Kenta ), you must visit this tiny place in downtown Boston. This is not your regular sushi place… you are not going to find the Philadelphia or California rolls…. This is real Japanese. The full food journey and delicate taste give you a full experience of those tiny Japanese places I visited many years ago in Tokyo. The service is great and very helpful to navigate across the menu. Please ask for help also for the drinks… you don’t want to drink red wine like I saw with raw fish!
I hope this place will stay for long time in Boston … this is a place to go (NOT cheap, so please stop making bad comments about the price).

Service started off great, once they realized we weren’t going to be ordering 10 nigiri worth $10+ a pop the service completely fell off and we got ignored. After putting in another order it just wasn’t being worked on and I saw the sushi chef indicate to the server that she forgot or just didn’t care. If you aren’t ordering all the expensive items on the menu then you’re not valued. Also, nothing special about the nigiri, not bad but i’ve had plenty better than this.
