Amy was so VERY cool tonight. I thought I lost my reading glasses on the long haul from my hotel walking in the slush snow in tennis shoes. Ugh. Asked if she had a “lost and found” and could I borrow a pair of readers. She jumped on the request, cleaned someone’s lost glasses and handed them right to me. OMG! I returned on departure, as promised. Who does that as a bartender in a pub?!
Met “Uzi” behind the bar as well. 101st Air Assault US Army young guy. He’s the son you hope you have. So full of personality and stories from Ft. Campbell. And such a gentleman. Amy and Uzi made my trip out here from Colorado, despite very ugly weather. Will never be forgotten. This IS the place. Get a picture in front with the Revolutionary War Trooper wood statue. What a wonderful experience. Will be back soon. Epic. 🫡😀

Must do as part of Historic Freedom trail. Interiors maintained to preserve sense of history. We didn’t eat, just enjoyed a hot toddy on a cold Boston day. Service was very cheerful.

Stopped in here for a drink and dessert while strolling through the city. The Boston cream pie was super soft and the chocolate was tasty. I had the Boston tea party and my husband had the Sam Adams Brick Red draft that can't be found on tap at other places. It was a flavorful amber lager. The Boston tea party was served in a teapot that held way more than I would have suspected. MORE than enough for two! The decor was historic and the staff was friendly. Great experience

I went there to have a conversation about starting revolution. I had some good whiskey and met some good people.

Had an awesome pretzel, big, warm and perfectly salted. Had a few cocktails that were good. Decent selection of beer. Had a Franklin burger that was supposed to be a sam Adams burger. All good, was still tasty. Also had the pulled pork, very good. Would return if I lived here. Service from the Irish accented gentleman was great

If not the oldest, mist definitely one of the oldest tavern in America. No place better to go in Boston than a place that is so much a representation of Boston and the amazing city it is. A historical establishment from 1654, whose noble and hallowed walls graced the presence of prominent historical figures such as Paul Revere and John Hancock. This Irish Pub is part of the heart of Boston and a piece of its long and storied history.
This place is a perfect stop to indulge in satisfying and delicious comfort foods, quick bar bites, and amazing entrees along with a very well stocked full bar. It's great anytime but I usually am back home to visit in late October and early spring, so a stop here on a cold New England evening will warm your soul. Whether that be through great atmosphere and conversation, hearty foods, or ice cold perfectly poured Guiness. This place is a staple of my trips home.
My favorite is the bangers and mash paired with several Guiness. The Shephards Pie and the spicy calamari are also mouth wateringly delicious.

Not original GD of course but a nice tribute to it. Stopped in for a beer. Small pub, very busy but the staff worked hard to accommodate everyone.

Excellent atmosphere, excellent drinks, and of course the history. Passed it up when packed on a weekend and returned mid week instead, enjoyed the bar.

Do yourself a favor and just go to Bell In Hand instead…
While visiting Boston on a business trip- my colleagues and I stopped in here looking for some drinks and food. Loved the history behind it all and we were SO excited that we got a table right away!!
Shortly after being sat, noticed the service was not only inattentive but also extremely rude. We were thrown placemats and dryly greeted. When the sever came back to take our order, we asked what the fan-favorite drink/meal is and we were told “I don’t know.” then they just walked away.
The table next to us was having a similar experience but seemingly worse, so much so they got up and left… we followed suit.
Cool place, great history, horrible customer service- I wouldn’t even recommend anyone to experience it for themselves. Avoid at all costs.
