Come for the history and stay for the food. Perfect location on the freedom trail if you want to sit and relax the feet with some beers or a snack. The Reuben and shepherds pie were outstanding đ. Skip the market and come here for a nice meal in a old school tavern.

Great little pub with an amazing story. The history of this place is incredible. Look it up. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Food is good solid pub food and about average price for downtown Boston. The drinks are good with a large selection of whisky and other spirits. Good beer selection too. I like to go about once a month just to soak up the history and have a good time. It gets very crowded on weekends.

Ordered the Franklin well done twice, came out with grill marks and char both times, but it was a pretty busy Monday.
The drink list was interesting and the streak tips that came out was an odd combination.

Donât stray from the pub favorites. Feels like a tourist trap. The fries and pulled pork tasted fresh out of the microwave. Clam chowder was serviceable. Service was good but the 18th century âatmosphereâ is ruined by a bunch of tvs playing ESPN.
Wouldnât recommend.

Great atmosphere in a historic setting. We split the fish and chips and had a cup of chowder. The Dragonâs Brew lager was a tasty complement to the meal.

9/25 - In Boston on a New England tour & had the chance to eat lunch here. Bangers and mash is a favorite of mine and their take was very good. The wife had Shepard's pie that she enjoyed and was more than she could eat. They have a few beers that are brewed exclusively for them. Sit in the window and watch all the people take your picture.

Enjoyed some beers at the window table and loved the vibe of the city outside the tavern. Loved being able to say we went to one of the oldest taverns in the US!
