I enjoyed my overall experience at this restaurant. Food, service, and ambiance were all very good.
Wonderful dining location. Main course selection is small but the dishes are flavorful and I wasn't disappointed with the experience. Would recommend!
Really tasty tuna melt and a good espresso martini before a matinee at The Opera House. Short walk to venue would heartily recommend
We enjoyed some raw oysters and small plates of fish tacos and lamb kabobs. All tasted excellent the lamb came with a very spicy salsa which was a little much for me but the lamb was melt in your mouth and tasty.
The Merchant was the perfect spot to grab dinner and drinks before a play. We opted to split several small plates in lieu of main dishes. We started with oysters which were some of the best we've had recently - decently sized and very briny. We also tried the calamari, as well as the BBQ ribs. Both were tasty, and decently portioned. We also split the spicy creole shrimp, as well as the wedge salad. Cocktails were unique and tasty.
Good food. Great service. We were seated promptly on a Saturday night after seeing a show. We would recommend to friends and family.
We got an outdoor table at 5:30 on a beautiful Friday. The service was friendly but unobtrusive and we were not rushed at all in the 90 minutes we were there. The gin cocktails and food were good and reasonably priced.
Our server was very pleasant and managed to bring our food out quickly as we were eating ahead of a 7pm show. Ambience was nice and not too loud for conversation.
We dined at The Merchant before seeing a show at the Wang Theater. The service was good, the food was good and the cocktails were phenomenal. Overall, I think it's a decent place to grab dinner especially since they offer a 10% discount for diners seeing a show after.
The Merchant is a great restaurant and bar in the heart of downtown Boston. I've been there many times, the food is delicious and high quality. This is not bar food. Staff are friendly and helpful and servers are appropriately attentive

I've been to The Merchant several times but this wasn't a good experience. I ordered the steak frites which was tasteless and room temperature. Our server delivered the food and never asked how it was or if we needed anything else.
Good service... 7.5/10 meals.

Great place , delicious food! My daughter and I enjoyed dinner on a very cute patio. She devoured the calamari, the oysters were fresh and and very tasty, and the chocolate pot de creme was to die for. Ambiance was very chic, and our server was very pleasant. I highly recommend!
Good food. Large group which we specifically asked about their ability to service in advance - it was a struggle for them.
