The Alaskan Halibut was delicious, and ordered by several of our party. While they prices are high, the service and atmosphere are top notch; we had a great celebration for a long-time friends graduation. The staff was efficient and attentive.

The service is appalling and I do not recommend this restaurant. They overbook the space without consideration of their ability to provide the expected service. We arrived promptly for our reservation on May 22 and it went downhill from there. Once seated with menus we were abandoned. After twenty minutes I went back to the host to ask to have our server sent over. A breathless server whizzed by and distractedly took our orders. After a half hour a glass of wine was delivered to the table. After an hour I went back to the host and said that if our meals were not delivered to us within five minutes we were leaving. The breathless, perspiring server arrived moments later and dropped plates with food that had apparently been sitting under warming lamps. We ate and left. It was a ruined evening.

An amazing meal, well worth the trip.

With many great things to choose, its hard to know where to begin.
The Food: The NE Clam chowder was filled with taste in each bite. I can easily see why it is so revered. My wife had the chicken fried lobster and that was quite flavorful as well my stuffed Gloucester Halibut. The lobster Mac & Cheese, was so rich and filled with lobster. The shaved Brussels sprouts were a different take for us, than we are used to and were good. Even the bread was soft and had whipped butter to add.
Drinks: The drinks were even on par with the food. Spicy margaritas, earned it's name, and the Oak & Smoke did not disappoint either.
The Service: But the greatest part was our service and the way the restaurant took care and acknowledged my wife and her special occasion. My wife graduated with an advanced degree, and the gave her a congratulatory card with a free entree. Additionally, the server was attentive, helpful and prompt throughout the meal. She also offered my wife a dessert to celebrate. Just, very thoughtful and special. I would easily recommend this as a place for a fine dining experience!

Thanks, Oceanaire!

We recently went to the Oceanaire for dinner and had 6 o’clock reservations for four people. We were seated promptly. The waiter first came to the table at 6:20 and took our order. We told him that we needed to be finished by 7:20 so we could get to a concert for 8 PM. He assured us that would be no problem and would set his phone to keep things on track. Our food arrived at 7:12, only because I asked one of the other servers where our food was. Our waiter also forgot to bring the side dishes and only brought them when he gave us the bill, after I told him that he forgot to bring them. This gave us about eight minutes to eat. We spoke with the manager, who was very accommodating and apologetic. She made a price adjustment, but we rather would’ve had a relaxing dinner with friends.

We’ve been going to this restaurant for about 15 years for social and work events. Two of the last three times we’ve had a similar experience. Sadly, I think this will be our last time there. Boston has lots of other great restaurants, where the service is much more predictable.

I was really hoping to experience awesome seafood and service. But boy did the chef screw up the lobster bisque way too salty.

Key lime was the worse I've ever had way too sweet.

Service was also slow.

Food was really good, need to work on their wine list some of the bottles were not available but that was not something that changed our overall dining experience, Brigitte our server was kind, attentive and knowledgeable they really took care of us from the beginning to the end I also loved the atmosphere not too much noise just a pleasant ambiance that I would definitely come back to.

Went here on Valentines evening. Had a reservation for 8pm and still ended up waiting an hour for a table. The front of the restaurant was overcrowded and chaotic, with tons of people standing and waiting for tables. We checked after 20-30 minutes and still had to wait because of people in the queue. We continued to wait before checking again and one of the hostesses at the desk was clearly in a bad mood and said she “called us already,” even though both of us couldn’t hear her in the chaos.
We finally got sat and the food was good, although the server forgot to bring a dish and we had to remind him.

Overall the restaurant did not handle the evening well, and the overall experience was way below my expectations. They should have managed Valentines day better considering they are a high end establishment and we made a reservation.

Gotta love a highly understaffed bar on Valentine’s Day. It’s not even busy. Our appetizers took over an hour, couldn’t even get a bartenders attention. They tried to offer us free shrimp which was fine but we just asked for a free round of drinks and they said they couldn’t do that… what are we doing? Decent food , F management. The kitchen and staff were not prepared

Was incredibly disappointed with my experience here. My boyfriend made us an early reservation for valentines day because oysters are my favorite food. I took us over an hour to even receive our appetizers and then the oysters never even came. My steak came out extremely overcooked even though I asked for it medium rare. Wait times were so long that I just asked for the steak to be taken off the bill and sent it back to the kitchen with no replacement, as I knew it was gonna take another hour to get another steak. My cocktail was horrible and watered down, it tasted like a batch cocktail. My boyfriend got a corona and they gave it to him with a lemon… dispute many people around us getting cocktails with lime. Also the “whipped” mashed potatoes were awful and chunky. Overall the experience ruined our romantic evening..

They overbooked the place on Valentine's Day which left me and my fiance waiting for 90 minutes to be seated. We had a 7:30 reservation and they didn't sit us until after 9PM. If it had been any other day of the year we would've left well before then but where else would we get a last minute Valentine's Day reservation? We waited by the bar, but after an hour of standing we sat in one of the small 2 person booths by the bar which didn't have any place settings or signage indicating that we couldn't sit there while we waited. Another 30 minutes went by and we flagged down the hostess who told us that she thought we had been seated and removed us from the list and wouldn't admit that she made a mistake. Obviously she hadn't sat us there, plus it did not appear that they were seating any of the diners in that area. The adjacent booth was empty while a half dozen couples waited by the coat check/hostess stand to be seated so obviously she was feeding us a line of BS. She was able to seat us immediately after that point in the dining area, but we were not offered anything complimentary for our time waiting or her error.

If you're looking for excellent seafood and fine dining in Boston I would recommend Ostra or Ocean Prime. They know how to honor a reservation.
