Review: A Confusing Experience on a Rainy Day
On a rainy day, I recently visited a local place called "Toasted Flats" with high hopes for a cozy meal, a warm drink, and a bit of respite from the dreary weather. While the coffee I ordered was soothing, my experience quickly became puzzling and frustrating.
I had ordered a toasted flatbread, something I was really looking forward to. However, to my surprise, the woman serving me informed me that I wasn’t allowed to eat my flatbread. I could drink my coffee, but apparently, eating my meal was not permitted. She mentioned that the establishment had been open for eight years, which made me wonder how a place could be licensed to sell food but somehow not allow customers to eat it.
At first I thought she was joking with me, quickly realized she was not.
The whole situation left me confused, as it seemed like a bizarre, contradictory policy. How can a place sell food, but then restrict your ability to consume it? It felt like a strange contradiction.
While I can appreciate a business's need for rules and regulations and licensing, this experience left me scratching my head. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon, and it certainly didn't leave me with the warm, welcoming feeling that a rainy day meal should. Maybe next time, I'll do more research and find a place that will let me eat my food in peace, rain or shine.

This place is great. The staff is super wonderful and kind. The food was incredible. We got 2 different breakfast sandwiches, and they were both very well done. The coffee was delicious, and the smoothie was very well done. The only issue was pricing.
Two breakfast sandwiches and two drinks ran $40.
It was restaurant pricing with a to-go vibe. There are other local places with better prices, but this place is absolutely worth a visit.
No seating and a very small interior so you've got to get it to go.

Crispy twist on pita sandwiches.
Recently took a visit for a quick breakfast. Everything on the menu was available, so I picked up one breakfast flat (Glorious Day) and two lunch flats (Chicken Pesto & Italian). Toasted Flats gave these a nice upgrade by baking them like mini breakfast pizzas for 2-3 minutes. While I’m not sure if this method transforms the dishes entirely, it did add a nice crispiness to toppings like bacon and pepperoni.
While the lunch flats sounded more enticing on paper, my favorite turned out to be the Glorious Day Flat. The combination of a runny soft-boiled egg, bacon, cheese, tomato, and sriracha mayo was perfectly balanced and hearty. On the other hand, the Italian Flat leaned too salty for my taste, and the Chicken Pesto Flat felt a bit off, with the pesto flavor too subtle.
Not sure if this is a place I’d go out of my way to visit again, but if I’m in the area for a quick and filling breakfast, I’d happily swing by.

We had takeout for breakfast. This is a great location that is convenient to the airport and online ordering was a quick and smooth process. The breakfast sandwiches are excellent. Our only complaint is that we prefer our eggs scrambled but they only serve them over easy. We added a note in the order asking if it was possible to have them scrambled but I guess it’s not. We would go back in a heartbeat if there was the ability to have your eggs cooked the way you prefer but will sadly pass on a second visit. If you are okay with this then you will love this place!

Hidden Gem in Eastie. My go to is the Veggie Flat with Honey Mustard All Day. Ordered countless times and will continue to do so. Awesome humans working there too.

The food is definitely incredible, the girls who prepare the food are also very sweet and answer any question without arrogance, but they need to know better the times so that the eggs are well cooked and the yolk does not overflow with a bite, in my case I am pregnant and I should not eat it like that, however that is corrected, what definitely takes away from that place is the attention of the black-haired lady who is tattooed, and she is the one who is always at the checkout, I would not like to think that it is the owner, an owner should never have that attitude with the public! If one returns, it is because of the quality of the products and the freshness, there is something that needs to be given relevance... but please a little kindness and even more if it is the first meal of the day!

A super healthy and exquisite meal, it's a shame that the lady at the cashier who is dark-skinned and has tattoos on her arm has very poor service availability, and even tends to be rude with her bad attitude, which makes one not want to return. No matter how delicious the food is, if they treat you like that with a takeaway, I wouldn't want to imagine if they served you at the table??? this time I strongly asked for the eggs to be hard-boiled and when I bit into it, it was watery and it ruined my breakfast. (If you don't like serving the public, look for another job) you shop there, they don't give away food.

I feel bad because the service and servers were wonderful but the food was really forgettable for how expensive it was. Also for how expensive it was it was crazy the place had no seating even to just wait for your food. The vibes are cute I just can't justify the price point.
