This was my fourth time at Top Mix - I go back whenever I can! The Latin/Caribbean vibe is excellent, the staff treats everyone like family, and there isn't a bad item on the menu! I hear the cocktails are great, too :o) Fantastic neighborhood, off-the-beaten-path spot to eat or just grab a drink.

I Like To Mix; prior to going to the Roxbury location I checked to see online if they had a brunch on Saturday (as most do) and there only page said that they do but they neglected to say only on Sunday. Very disappointed but I had driven a long way so I just stayed. Going forward there site should specify that they "only do brunch on Sunday"

I recently had the chance to dine at Top Mix, and I have to say, the food was absolutely delicious! Each dish was flavorful and well-prepared, making it clear that the chefs are passionate about what they do. I truly enjoyed every bite.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was also a highlight. It had a nice, inviting vibe that made for a pleasant dining experience. The decor was stylish, and the overall ambiance created a great setting for enjoying a meal.
However, I did encounter some issues with the service, which is why I’m giving a four-star review. Unfortunately, the staff did not come across as particularly friendly, and there were a few unnecessary comments that detracted from the experience. A little more warmth and attentiveness from the team would have made a significant difference.
Despite the service hiccups, I would still recommend Top Mix for its incredible food and lovely atmosphere. I hope that with some improvements in customer service, it can become an even better dining destination! I look forward to returning and enjoying another meal in the future.

After seeing the menu, I was excited to try TopMix Cambridge and decided to order takeout on a Thursday evening. I went with the fried pork chop with white rice and beans. Unfortunately, less than five minutes after placing my order, I received a call saying they were out of pork for the night, which was disappointing. I ended up switching to the baked Caribbean chicken instead.
Walking into the restaurant, I noticed a lively vibe with Spanish music playing, and the hostess was very friendly, which was a great first impression.
However, the food itself fell short of expectations. The to-go plate was mostly white rice, which was clumpy and unseasoned, taking up half the container. It felt like the meal could have been better balanced with vegetables instead of such a large portion of rice. The beans, served in a small separate container, had decent flavor, but I wish there had been more sauce to accompany the rice.
The chicken had a nice BBQ flavor with a bit of char, which I appreciated, but it was overwhelmingly salty. Overall, the meal lacked balance and refinement, especially considering the $28 price tag.
I was hoping for a better experience given the positive atmosphere and friendly service, but the food didn’t quite meet expectations.

In regards to the food & Cocktalis Amazing !!! I’ve dined at Top mix in Jamaica plain several times. Each time has been a great experience except for 1 time. Decided to dine in at Top mix JP with a friend for diner and some drinks … we both ordered the fried pork chops which was seasoned and cooked to perfection might I add.
We also had rice and beans with fried & sweet plantains, a side of asparagus. Had a great cocktail might I add the bartender makes great drinks . This was A Thursday evening in December when I was last there , after he great meal and drinks my fiend had a phone call to take , at this time I decided to proceed outside to have a cigarette. I lit my cigarette and about a minute later the hostess came out to inform me that I couldn’t smoke in front of the restaurant and stated I would have to stand in the side walk if I wanted to smoke.
I politely informed the hostess no worries at all not a problem. I moved to the sidewalk and continued to smoke. I never gave it another thought, as it’s more than understandable if a business owner dosent want customers smoking in front of the establishment. Most people don’t want to walk I. Or out of a restaurant into a cloud of smoke totally get that.
As I’m smoking and thinking about how great of a time I had , I noticed another customer come outside on their cell phone and proceeded to light a cigarette and smoke directly in front of the restaurant. I would like to add the restaurant storefront is made of glass , the same hostess watched the other customer smoke the cigarette however never came out to inform them that smoking wasn’t allowed in front of the restaurant.
I found that quite strange as couldn’t understand why the same message want given to the other customer. I finished my cigarette, then proceeded back inside the restaurant to head back to the bar but not before I stopped and spoke to the hostess and stated hey just for awareness there is a customer smoking in front of the restaurant however you didn’t inform them they couldn’t smoke in front of the restaurant. The hostess nervously laughed and said ohh nooo he wasn’t. I stated he’s smoking right now you can see clearly through glass. I told her I’m not being difficult just thought she should know the customer was smoking as she has been watching him from inside the restaurant but never said anything.
The hostess walks away towards the back of the restaurant the ln came back to the front and went outside and laughed and said something to the customer , the customer laughed and continued smoking … the customer then proceeded to come in the restaurant sat at the bar across from me and kept looking at me awkwardly.
The gentleman looked to be of Hispanic ethnicity, as anyone knows that dines at top mix it is a Spanish restaurant. I happen to be a black man who has grew up in the Latino community and very fond of the culture. However it’s always been very prevalent that there is a bias in the Latino community towards those that are not Hispanic , this night at top mix that bias was shown.
I felt because I was a customer and spent money I should have been treated in the same regard as the Hispanic gentleman that was allowed to smoke in front of the restaurant. Top mix is a great place to eat and drink however as a business it’s important to make sure the staff of your the business is displaying best practices to ALL of its customers as it can leave a nasty taste in the mouth if customers when they are treated differently. It’s. Encounter’s like this that make a customer not want to return to the establishment.
With that said I will never return to Top Mix to dine in, or do take out. As great as the food is and drinks I would prefer to spend my money with a business that respects me and will treat with fairness as a customer.
I do plan to share my experience with my friends and family and social media as I believe it’s important to know how this establishment dosent see that all money is green and ethnicity shouldn’t predict the treatment you receive at a

Just spent 70 freaking dollars , I'm trying to figure out why there's no goddamn sauce with the shrimp this is not how you serve it in the restaurant why would you serve pick up like this I'm extremely unsatisfied and upset! Then the fact you go up on your prices and they don't even match what is on Google maps!!!!! That fish should stay 16.99 there's no reason why it's 2199 for the pieces that you gave and it's not even beer battered, and for you to go up on the shrimp it could have at least be 10 pieces, So focus on remodeling need to worry how your food is prepared and served!!! This is the worst service I've ever received from you guys and at this point I don't even think I'll be back! At least not this location
