Tori Japan is one of the more affordable eats around the area! Their bento boxes are under $15 and come with California rolls, fried gyoza, rice, vegetables, and your choice of protein. It's not a fancy place, but it is perfect for students and food comes out fast! Service was excellent. I feel like I'll probably end up eating here a lot for lunch!

IThe food here was good and I have frequented her about four times. Three of those times I bought the Bento Box. Only once in those bentos have I received the condiments in the box for my Sushi rolls. Also, way too much rice and not enough sauce.

Don’t DoorDash from them. They don’t include utensils, condiments or anything, so you can’t actually eat the food unless you are at home. I’m traveling for work so don’t have chopsticks, a fork, anything on me. Waste of $20 on a dinner I couldn’t eat.

Very disappointing. ordered online and received low quality food and lousy sushi. Rice was not fully cooked and the Redbull sushi roll construction was amateur. The beef bento was not good either.

The location is nice, as it is surrounded by many other food spots and is close to Newbury Street, so you can shop afterward. The food is cheap, and the quality is average (it's a "you-get-what-you-pay-for" situation).

(TAKE OUT) Absolutely atrocious, took forever to make my food, and when I finally got it they didn't give me any utensils or soy sauce cups... just packets shoved into the sushi containers. There was also a small black hair on 1 piece of sushi. The sushi was extremely soft (way more than normal) and was extremely fishy (way more than normal), as well as random black flecks of god knows what scattered on random pieces, also the rice was some how hard as hell. I will definitely never get food from this place ever again. 0/10 one of the worst food experiences I have ever had.

I don't know if there are other Japanese or somewhat-Japanese spots in Hyde Park, but this is the first and only that I've ever seen in this neighborhood. The next closest is a restaurant that serves sushi in Roslindale Village.Tori Japan is a chain spot, from what I've learned... which makes sense because it looks like a fast food place in appearance and atmosphere. Customers stick around to wait for their orders, but the majority doesn't stay to dine. It's clean and looks well-managed, but it's not the most inviting.Tori Japan is currently running a buy-1-get-½-off or some kind of teriyaki bento deal that isn't really a deal, but everyone who walked in when I was there ordered it. I don't know if it's a tasty deal or just convenient because the customers were all there to pick it up. No one sat down to eat, and I don't know if any of them were returning customers.I didn't feel like trying the teriyaki bento or any of the other three or four bento choices. No, I was in the mood for sushi, so that's what I ordered... big mistake. I should have saved my money or bought a Snickers bar from the drugstore because all I got from Tori Japan for my hunger and curiosity was complete disappointment. The sushi menu, alone, is scarce and sad, There is a sign against the wall with bad-resolution pictures of the rolls they serve. I ignored the awful pictures and wanted to trust that the sushi I ordered would be better than what was shown on the wall. It wasn't.The quality and serving were truly disappointing. I wasn't expecting jumbo-sized rolls, but what they served here was below average in size and taste. The rolls are less than 7in. long, and each piece was barely 1cm in diameter. The taste was nothing to write about, either -- just very forgettable. I've had heartier portions from food samples than I did from this tinier-than-hors d'oeuvres serving. While it's so exciting to find a sushi spot in this part of Hyde Park, and I applaud Tori Japan for opening a franchise here, several improvements are necessary. I might try again in six months or so to dine here, but I highly doubt it.
