Typical cozy restaurant in the north end serving fantastic Italian food. You will not be disappointed with the menu. Bread with dipping oil balsamic and grated cheese we couldn't have enough. Each of us took half our plate home with us. Our server was very friendly and even gave us some ideas for a breakfast place the following morning. Highly recommend!
Server insisted that we wait until after starters were served to order mains - it took an hour for starters to arrive at our table and we had ordered nothing that required cooking - salad, antipasto, and bruschetta- all of which were unappetizing - just awful. Once we were able to order mains the server said it would be at least 30 minutes before our mains could be served. The mains were horrible - out of a can tomato sauce, no flavor or seasoning - the carbonara was greasy not creamy - the veal tough and flavorless. The atmosphere was very loud with most of the patrons drinking rather than eating food. I don't leave reviews but had to this time as this was easily the worst meal I have ever had on a night out.
Fantastic food and attentive service. An interesting twist on Italian food and pasta in particular. Sweet potato gnocchi was so delicious and perfectly paired with broccoli rab and Italian sausage. Best Bruschetta we've ever had. Will definitely go back.
Biggest complaint is that the food took 45 minutes to come out when the restaurant was virtually empty. The food was pretty good but not spectacular, the steak tips were overdone.
Wow! Had not been back for a few years, quite a few changes. Many times changes to a restaurant means new owners or chefs. Not the case here. So much more room to enjoy the incredible food. We had an early lunch and while walking to our table you could see the fresh pasta being brought up to the new open kitchen. My friend who was born in Italy said “their meatballs were the best she had ever eaten “. High praise indeed. Our server was sweet and very attentive. The whole “Monica's enterprises” of restaurants, salumeria and retail stores are are awesome. We will be back soon
Food was very good. We ordered a Caesar salad, side of Meatballs, pesto fucilli and spicy vodka chicken parm. Pesto Fucilli was the favorite. Salad had a little too much lemon flavor for my liking. Got a cocktail at the bar while we waited for our table. It was made well. Out server was nice and no problems with our order. Overall a nice visit.
Our server was amazing! Her food recommendations were spot on and she was very attentive without being intrusive. The food was great. Would definitely go back next time we are in Boston.
Great service! Arrived early for our reservation and were able to be seated! The food was great, it kind of took a while to come out though. Good portions and prices.
Food was decent. Not vegan or alcohol free friendly at all. Service was good, just sad to have no options.
Consistency is the hallmark trait for excellence. Monica's continues to deliver exceptional service, delicious food in an atmosphere of wholesome family space. Over the years I have sampled almost everything on the menu, and I have settled on my favorite dish - chicken Parmesan over penne with vodka sauce. Having spent the day looking forward to my meal, the expectations were high that the dish would again present a unique flavor and very high-quality chicken with perfectly cooked penne pasta. I was not disappointed. My guest on this evening chose something different and experienced excellence that has come to be synonymous with Monica's. Our hostess for the evening, Nicole, continues to deliver extremely high-quality and attentive service. With familiar recognition she greeted us with a huge smile. I can still highly recommend Monica's.

Overall very disappointing. The drinks and bruschetta were very good but it went downhill from there. All four of us had pasta, two spaghettis, one pappardelle and one fettuccini, and all of us found it to be chewy, sort of doughy. Second problem, two meals were served after a very long delay, one the remaining two was delayed about 10 minutes more and the fourth, which had been requested to have oil and garlic rather than marinara on the pasta, even later. The waiter said the kitchen was unable to do change the sauce so we said ok, then the waiter said the kitchen could do that, Then the food was delivered with marinara sauce and had to be sent back. By the time it came it was cold and appetites were gone. The only plus was the entire check was comped.
Our first time did not disappoint. We arrived in time for our 8pm reservation but they had a difficult time clearing the previous couple and invited us to get drinks in the bar. We were eventually seated near the open kitchen which made it very warm. The burrata bruschetta was very good as an appetizer and we split the bolognese. All very very good. Ended with an espresso chocolate chip gelato which was the perfect capper. Only strike was for the very warm temp, otherwise a fantastic experience!
Fantastic dinner and service! Enjoyed the wine, special appetizer, and four cheese ravioli!
The food was fine. The pasta was a little thick but the flavor was good. It was hot. They had to close the doors because of rain. Once a table moved they could open it, but we were already sweating over dinner. The service was excellent.
Monica's Trattoria rarely disappoints. The food is consistently excellent. The service spot on. A special shoutout to Norma. Attentive without being overbearing. My go to place when bringing out of town guests to the North End.
