A very detailed review from someone who has eaten a lot of tapas!Outstanding bartender! I’ve been a bit disappointed lately when I go into high-end cocktail bars, and they don’t have ingredients I need for making my favorite drinks. Not only was this bartender excellent and knowledgeable, but as I was naming my favorite drink, he knew it, and he loved it as well. I ordered off the menu though, and enjoyed the “kitty’s got claws” because I am a big Mezcal fan and it looked interesting. It was beautifully balanced.Then I saw him making what I thought was a corpse reviver, and we talked a bit about that, and I was thrilled that he knew how to make one, so as I watched him making one for somebody else. I ordered it as my second drink. I know I’m supposed to be reviewing the food, and I will get to that, but a quality bartender, who is interesting and fun, and above all… Knowledgeable, is a very big part of an experience that has a full bar. Bravo, to this bartender! I only wish I remembered his name.On to the food. Interesting interpretation of tapas. Especially the cabbage, which was different than any presentation I have had before. A large piece, braised perfectly, with a creamy sauce. Patatas bravas were an interesting take as well. Often they are either too small with a bit of sauce smothered on them or they are too big and only spiced a little bit. These were a great size and they were seasoned, but did not have any sauce on them, which is wonderful. And then there was some romesco sauce (made of tomatoes and roasted red peppers, and usually almonds) on the side; a really great interpretation of this classic Spanish dish. (Note that a typical bravas sauce has smoked paprika and tomato paste) and I really enjoyed the romesco as a nice change. We also had a lamb slider, which was big enough for lunch for one person. So keep that in mind when ordering. It was actually halfway between the size of a slider and a regular burger. Also, the homemade focaccia was very fluffy! The rosemary butter is a good compliment.Atmosphere is cute. Loud and bustling and definitely not the type of place that is quiet and you can hear the forks clinking. Really great vibe. Wonderful neighborhood place. We lived in JP for years and raised our kids here and it was great to come back and see this new (to us!) restaurant in the neighborhood.

Charming, dark, lively place in an unassuming side-by-side on Upper Centre Street, JP. Small tapas menu with luscious morsels and plates, but we went with the paella (small) which was plenty for two. Delicious, deep smoky/spicy flavors with chicken and sausage. Started with a yummy charcuterie board of hard cheeses, quince jam and charred toast points and a small bowl of succulent, warm olives scented with cumin and anise. Reservations not available day-of, so plan ahead. Don't miss this hidden Spanish gem.

oh my gawwwddd orgasmic meal ... the scallops everything was as sooo yummy! we got a bunch of tapas and a large paella and it was perfect for five people! employees were so sweet and well informed on all the dishes! it was well worth the wait bc you can search the books n vinyls while u wait! def make a reservation if u have a bigger party tho! 10/10 vibes

Team is so kind, both in the restaurant and the store. A consistently reliable spot! I haven't eaten in a while but heard there's a new lead chef which is exciting!
If you are around, it is a place to go.I would say it is more for young generation, could not identify exactly the style ??♂️The way they cook and serve, is not exactly as you would get it in its original location - they have their way of cooking.They are Gluten Free friendly, something we were looking for.

The food and drinks are expertly crafted and have such rich flavor. It doesn't matter what you order at the resturant, you will enjoy your experience at Tres Gatos.Also the Paella Mixta is our favorite dish!10/10!
We threw a surprise engagement dinner party for a friend at Tres Gatos last night and it could not have been a better experience! Kate was incredibly responsive during the entire planning process, usually responding to emails within minutes. The food and drinks were all absolutely delicious, and ultimately we had a party of 12 people and SO much food for us at a very reasonable price point. The entire server team was responsive, kind, and friendly. Thank you everyone at Tres Gatos for a wonderful evening!

Second time back, still don't see the appeal. Lamb bocadillo is too small to reasonably share. It's like a slider, but skewing more towards the size of a single macaron. We spent $110+ for two without getting drinks.

This place is awesome! Best things we got were the mushrooms- insanely flavorful. Also huge fans of the brussels sprouts, steak, patatas bravas, and burrata (although heavy on the squash light on the burrata). The deviled eggs were strange- kind of like chicken salad consistency but with ham? And were super smoke-y but I think that was just our tastebuds that didn't love it. Also didn't love the shrimp dish- it wasnt super flavorful and they come with the shells and head on which personally freaks me out. Service was incredible and drinks were strong (in a good way). I will be going back!

Love it here!! The food is incredible and the service is nice and accommodating. Everything is shareable and they are really on top of dietary restrictions. The Brussels sprouts, chickpea fritters, deviled eggs and lamb burger were my favorite items but you cannot go wrong. It is a super cozy atmosphere as it is a small space- I highly recommend making a reservation. There’s a record store in the back to check out while you wait!Dietary restrictions: My group had a dietary restriction and they were all over it! Every dish that arrived they made sure to let us know its ingredients.Wheelchair accessibility: There are steps into the restaurant’s front door, and a ramp around back that enters into the record store. The entire space is very small and could be challenging to maneuver a wheelchair, however there are a variety of table heights and the staff is wonderful so I am sure they’d be accommodating!
