This is one of my favorite small businesses in the downtown/Financial District! The quality is always there and their black salsa is delicious. It's comfort food, a straightforward menu, friendly service and a great family-owned and women-owned business to support. I try to come before 12 to beat the lunch line. Very limited seating so best to take carryout.

I've been going here since it was in the gas station across from MGH. Love the food so much. It is made with such care and the flavors are amazing every time. I haven't been in a while but I know I need to go back soon. I miss that yummy chorizo.

Great lunch spot! Love the food and especially the salsa. The staff are super nice and the outdoor tables are cute for a quick workday break!
Recommended dishes: Salsa, Carnitas Tacos
Villa Mexico Cafe is amazing! The food is fresh, flavorful, and full of authentic taste. Their burritos and salsa are out of this world, and the portions are generous. The staff is friendly and makes you feel right at home. If you’re craving real Mexican food in Boston, this is the place to go!

Perfect spot for a delicious lunch in Boston. The staff is friendly and very quick. I recommend the burritos, tacos, or quesadillas.

The service and food were amazing!
Extremely overpriced for a mediocre product
EDIT: people really get bent out of shape about the most random stuff in these reviews, I don't think any of it is warranted. I pop in now and then and I really like their food and never have any issues with service, everyone is friendly. I grew up out in southern CA eating Mexican almost daily, and this is my favorite Mexican spot on the east coast (Alejandro's in Roanoke VA of all places is a close second). The chorizo is highly recommended, and I really like that black salsa, but most of the other dishes I've had here are great too.

Food was microwaved in front of me and did not appear to be in a controlled temperature storage - beans were stored in a sour cream plastic container.
Updating to respond to owner:
Came it at 2 PM 3/28
Cold food was stored in controlled temperature device (front left from customer perspective)
“Warm” food was in metal bins or plastic containers on back left table, outside of steam bins - food had to be microwaved.
This is one of my favorite local restaurants near PO Square. Authentic, delicious food that is always served with a smile.
horrible place with over priced food. Not Mexico not delicious, see pic for “$18 EXTRA MEAT BOWL”
avoid.
Since relocating from the New England area, I've missed access to Villa Mexico Cafe. This year, I ordered their infamous (authentic and delicious) Black Salsa for the whole family for the holidays! It's a real treat and one I'm grateful for. Their food and service have always been spectacular (and spectacularly friendly). Well worth a visit to their Boston location... or a mail-order if you are not in Boston! Viva la Villa Mexico Cafe!❤👍
Unbelievable burrito, this is my new lunch spot for work.
