Good good and nice atmosphere. They had some live music when we went on a Saturday evening.

Been going here for over 20 years, food is good, atmosphere never really changes/comfortable but the best thing here were their Margaritas, especially their Pepparitas. Unfortunately on my last visit last week, the Margarita was very disappointing, weak, tasted like lime juice and soda. Re thinking my Mexican restaurant selection.

Awful, Sat at bar, inattentive bartender was busy chatting with her girl friend at the bar the whole time. Chicken cilantro entree was dreadful, toughest chicken ever, sides of beans and rice were cold. Chicken fajitas we're not served sizzling hot, barely warm, and with no sour cream, no guac, Will never return.

I’ve read some disparaging reviews here about El Sarape. I’ve been coming for about 10 years and all I can say is: Sit at the bar, enjoy some chips and salsa with a house-made margarita, then switch maybe to Negra Modelo and order a (fairly priced!) enchilada combinación splitting between verde and mole. (I get refried-only for the side😋) Chat with beautiful Maya and enjoy the neighborhood vibe with the gathering locals. Disfrute de su comida!

It bums me out to say this! I’ve been going to El Sarape for quite a while (I grew up in the area and the nostalgia is real!). I still love the food (except the guacamole… that had ZERO flavor and no tomato’s jalapeños nada), but the service seems to be slipping.
The last few times I’ve gonr, it’s been very slow (usually off hours). That being said, getting our server’s attention is always a task. Sitting without water, having to flag someone down for chips or to place an order, getting a check etc. The wait staff all seem to hang by the bar chatting unless there are drinks or food to run.
I will still frequent this place (their queso asado is AMAZING), but I wish they would get their act together a little bit

My favorite place! Pescado cilantro is out of this world. For a cheap-eats night a burrito and a Modelo is spot on. Cannot go wrong here.

My daughters and I walked in later on a Saturday night and they couldn’t have been more welcoming towards us if they tried… and it was such a lovely atmosphere, everyone there was in smiles it seemed. The food was as magnificent as I remember it being, maybe even better. All around, this is easily one of my and my family’s favorite places to be and by far the best Mexican restaurants this side of the Rio Grande ;D

The young host was absolutely amazing! Waitress was absolutely awful and food was old and disgusting!
1. I support all local small businesses! 2. The young man when I entered was professional and friendly ( Hard worker) 2 the place was empty. Waitress was rushy and rude. Sooo slow too busy talking to the bartender. My food looked, smelt and tasted disgusting. It definitely was not fresh. My husband’s rice was so dry and the beans he didn’t touch. They look like they was sitting for hours.
Only thing we enjoyed was the salsa and chips . As my husband was eating she took it away and my husband said something. She admitted she should have asked!
I took one bite and spit it out. Had my husband try and he even stated the meat was not good !
We ended up going to UNO MAS next door and omg it was absolutely amazing!!!! Definitely will be going back to UNO Mas! Also Ocho Cafe is absolutely amazing too!

By far the worst food I’ve ever had in a sit down restaurant. To start, our silverware was still dirty. Our server kindly replaced them with clean ones. I got the beef and potato casserole, and the beef was like leather. It also wasn’t anything resembling a casserole, just pieces of tough beef in black sauce. My friend got a chicken dish that was swimming in oily water topped with a glob of barely melted cheese. The chicken was also like rubber. The chips and salsa were great, and our server Rachel was a sweetheart. The manager was also really understanding and comped the whole meal. Overall, the service was fantastic but the cooks probably need to be re trained.
