Solid Classic Cantonese restaurant with fresh seafood. Really traditional but did not get soup as appetizer or dessert soup or fruit at end of dinner like in NYC Chinatown. I would definitely come back and try again.

Our favorite place getting Chinese seafood. The dishes are delicious, reasonably priced and come in generous portion. I recommend their lobster, clams in black bean sauce, calamari, sea eel, and fresh whole fish in season. So good!

Atrocious customer service. This is the absolute worst I’ve ever seen. They neglect their customers and are very rude. STAY AWAY!!!
Price is reasonable
Delicious food!
I understand that Sea conch stir fried with tofu and Chinese scallion is market price, but there is no way it should cost $62 because there are only a few pieces of conch in the stir fried dish (mostly Chinese scallions and tofu). How can that s more expensive than all lobster dish? The average price for this dish anywhere, even with market price is $38-$34. Did we get played bc we asked for a more decent table inside?
South Garden is a Chinese restaurant located right outside the heart of Quincy Center serving traditional South Chinese and Cantonese dishes for lunch and dinner.
The staff are friendly, definitely helps to know Cantonese but they can communicate well in English as well.
As for the food, its alright. The quality is pretty much the same as other restaurants, though the beef satay chow fun wasn't as good as other places i've tried. Very good spot to get traditional Cantonese dishes like fried squid or fried porkchops for a reasonable price and reasonable quality.

Traditional Cantonese dishes are good .
The Lobster Mountain was pretty good and it was the reason we went there. Kind of pricey. But I recommend to try it.
Look at that lobster mountain! 5 lbs of lobster just $100? Someone recommended this on red notes, so I came to give it a try! And it really amazed me. I can tasted the 'wok hay'! This restaurant tastes better than lots of NYC chinese restaurants!
We enjoyed South Garden a lot! It’s right next to a huge Chinese supermarket, so even though there was a queue (20 mins) when we arrived, we could walk around till a table was open. The lobster tower was really good — quality of the seafood itself is great, and the preparation was also well done. The asparagus and beef stir fry was also very good.

South Garden is a great spot for Chinese food! The garlic chicken was super tasty, and the lobster tower was incredible – so fresh and full of flavor. A little but way too crowded but they have plenty of parking. The staff was really nice, and the food came out fast. If you’re craving good Chinese food, definitely check out South Garden!

After the new ownership came in, you could tell there was a difference to the restaurant, but nothing bad. The food quality was the same, though some of the faces had changed. I went recently (Saturday) and it was most likely one of the worst experiences I've had at a Cantonese restaurant. First, we were sat at a table where they had been counting money (they had to clear the box and everything off before they sat us) and the table cloth was dirty (stained with what looked like motor oil). The food was just as sub par. We got the beef and mustard greens (it good), chicken and broccoli (was ok as well), but the salt and pepper squid tasted like dead fish and was so chewy it was inedible. The beef brisket with noodles was ok, but the noodles weren't very crispy (ok, this is a nit-pick).
I think I'm going to have to find a new canto spot in Quincy now.
