I stopped by Notch Brewing Brighton just for the beer, and I’m glad I did. I tried The Standard, Dunkel, Salem Lager, and a few others — each one showed off a different side of their lager game. The Standard was crisp and classic, the Dunkel had a nice malty depth without feeling heavy, and the Salem was super clean with a dry finish that I really liked.
What stood out to me was the consistency. Every pour was clean, balanced, and precise — which isn’t easy with lagers. There’s no room to mask imperfections, and Notch nails it across the board.
The space itself is laid-back with a casual crowd, perfect for focusing on the beer. As someone who works around flavors a lot, I really appreciate when simple things are done this well. I’ll definitely come back — next time I’ll take my time and go through the full lineup properly.
One of the few breweries left in MA that keeps it real. Truly great beer and staff. As a parent I also really appreciate their policies regarding kiddos - this is a brewery for drinking beer, not a place kids can go unsupervised.
Great staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Perfect summer spot for starters. Had some tacos and a beer with a bunch of actors...
Great place for having a couple of beers. BUT they used to have great German food as well. This year they decided to replace it by oustsourced pizza and taco standard stuff :(
If you think to bring your family please NO... zero family/kids friendly please if have kids not go..
If you are looking for a family friendly brewery…Notch is not it.
Rude servers
Upon entry of the courtyard posted signs said family friendly but when entering the facility we were informed 21 and up after 6pm. Time was 6:20 and there was 2 infants in the building.
Authentic. Beautiful. Dog friendly in the beer garden.
Lovely bierhall with indoor and outdoor options when it’s warm out. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was relaxed and cozy. This seems like a nice spot to meet up with friends, and they have a small kitchen across the way for snacks (along with other options at the Speedway). The blood orange radler was tasty and they even had board games in the corner.

Nice beers and outside but VERY KID UNFRIENDLY. Beware that if you are a parent and you bring your child, you need to be out by 6pm (7 days a week)
Great Czech style beer. Many lower ABv options. Notch has become one of my favorite breweries for European style beers with an American twist. Good food on site.
My husband is a brewmaster in Utah and These guys know what they’re doing, the Czech Pilsner was one of the best I’ve ever had and they pour all the beers correctly. I will absolutely come back here every time I’m in Salem.
Great food and beer
I can’t even lie…the kolsch was the best beer I’ve ever had. It was just what I was looking for. The other beers had a similar taste profile so I actually liked all of them. The pizza from the shop in the same area was also 10/10. Definitely coming back
