Extensive beer list and good service, but the five stars is really for the gnocchi with sausage, butternut squash, and cream sauce I had last night. Really good dish, and since their menu seems to rotate, hope that one sticks around

I’ve patronized this establishment many times over the years, and while the beer selection, particularly Belgian ales, is excellent, I’m sad to report that the food has been steadily declining in quality and execution. My wife and I visited recently and were very disappointed to find that they had changed their pommes frites from very authentic, perfectly cooked, short pieces, to shoestrings (think McDonalds). While they arrived hot, they were stone cold within 5 minutes, as shoestring fries inevitably are. $12 plus a $2 upcharge for truffle Parmesan treatment. Worst decision Publick house has made, as the food here has never been great to begin with. Yes they serve fish and chips and bratwurst as most beer halls do, but the rest of the menu consists of the same boring, uninspired staples; burgers, chicken wings, nachos, Caesar salad, blah, blah, blah… You can order this stuff literally anywhere, and likely done better than it is here, but the one item that truly resembled authentic Belgian fare can now be purchased at the golden arches for a fraction of the price. What a shame. My wife ordered a Cuban sandwich with Cole slaw, which she said was fine, although the Cole slaw was bland. I ordered boneless chicken tenders in sriracha sauce with blue cheese dressing. The chicken was fairly dry, and the “house made” blue cheese dressing bland. Not great. Our server was pleasant, but admittedly new, and struggled to properly pour our beers. After we received our food, we never saw her again. Our refill orders were taken by another server, who also delivered the check. Our original server was still working, but had seemingly passed us off to another. We have always like the European feel of Publick House, with it’s arched doorways and cavernous feel. Drinking a proper beer in this environment is enjoyable, if also on the pricey side. That said, the price and quality of the food simply doesn’t live up to the well curated tap and bottle list. Come here for some beer, but eat somewhere else first.

Delicious but not accessible.. extremely difficult to navigate the stairs with a mobility disadvantage. Not to mention the front staff was not exactly helpful on what to do for this instances. Need to be properly trained

Third time here and it’s an absolute gem. The burger is consistently delicious and the beer selection is excellent.
Their service is on point and here’s why:

Brian M our server was on top of it on a busy Saturday night, quick and attentive, I noticed the price of my Buffalo Trace was different on the printed menu from the online menu, I didn’t mind the price difference bc I was happy to pay it (it was a great old fashioned) but after I pointed out the price difference…he thanked me for letting them know and comped my drink! It wasn’t necessary at all but I really appreciate that kind of response.
Secondly, I ordered the fish and chips, which is the best fish and chips I’ve ever had (shout out to the kitchen staff!) But the fish portion was a little small. I’m assuming the manager clocked it, came over and said that’s a small piece of fish let me get you another one. She came out with a piece of fish twice the size. That’s good service!
It’s cozy, quality and exactly what you want on a cold night or a hot day. Good people, great food and drinks. Thank you Publick House !

Awesome spot for such a wide variety of beers! They have everything you could imagine and are super knowledgeable if you want a suggestion and are curious to try something new. The food is pretty great as well and I love how the menus change over so you can go every few months and know you’ll see different things. Cheeseburger nachos are crazy good when they have them. As well as one of my favorites brews… Duchesse Cherry which is rare to find.

Not sure what’s gone wrong, but used to be much better. I used to love the muscles; they’re a classic. Tonight, flavorless and awkwardly served on a tray with no bowl for shells. Fries were greasy and limp instead of crisp and flavorful. Wife ordered a veggie patty that she couldn’t cut through with a fork and knife. Won’t be going back any time soon.

A buddy and I stopped in here on a Sunday. The mussels with Allagash white broth was perfect. The beer selection kept use there for 6 hours. The staff was top notch. 10/10
