I was really disappointed with my recent experience at bluestone lane in harvard square. The coffee was extremely bitter and lacked any aroma, making it unpleasant to drink. The food didn’t meet expectations either; my eggs, which were supposed to be runny, arrived hard. Additionally, the order process is entirely online, which means there’s no interaction with the staff, yet a tip is expected even when the quality of food is subpar. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience.

I personally like their food & coffee. I also really enjoy the ambiance/style of the cafe (note though it can be crowded & loud) which is why it is one of my fav go to brunch/lunch places in Harvard Sq. To note I do say this given that actually you do not have a lot of choices available in the Square so ends up being the go to place. However - two negatives are worth noting. First, I did have time to time unpleasing experience with the food. (1) Most recently the breakfast burrito I had was heavily oily which did not feel well. (2) When I ordered the pancakes one time which tasted off and then I realised it looked molded, I called the server and showed it and they told me it is not mold but the pan leaves those marks. It was disturbing. Second, apart from these two specific food instances the staff does engage in a form of age discrimination worth noting (intentions left aside). Unless you look of certain age they tell you to order online with the QR code which means the pay is online. But they say this in a way as if there is no other option - I literally asked on two separate occasions and was told there is no other way. One time my friend’s card did not work online form, they did not bring the card reader device for traditional non-online card payment or accept cash so was very inconvenient. I paid for my friend which was fine but could have found ourselves in a more difficult position too. I mention the ‘discrimination’ point because just as this backdrop existed, we saw that two people who were senior citizens and they immediately were given an option to do it as a traditional order at the table with the server & non-online form of pay. I understand that it may be more convenient for the majority to do the ordering online, but there should be an optional choice. It is not accurate to assume that if you look ‘young’ you can handle online order & payment because there may be reasons why you simply can not (apart from preference)…Just wanted to mention this as personal feedback for reference. Thank you though - I do overall have a positive perception which is why I am a loyal customer! Best.

Every time I’ve been here the service is pretty bad. You’re better off going to Tatte or literally any cafe in the square.Today I waited 10 minutes for a croissant (no drink), then when I came up to the register to ask and mentioned that I’ve been waiting for 10 minutes, no apology and they just handed me a croissant and said “Anything else?”During the entire 10 minute wait, there was a barista who stood less than a foot away from me the entire time. I didn’t bother him because I assumed he handles the drinks while someone else is responsible for food, but during that entire time he saw me waiting he never even asked if he can help me with something.Last time I was here, I ordered a coffee and an avocado toast at a table. They didn’t bring the coffee for over 20 minutes, when I finally asked about it they said that I never ordered one (instead of just apologizing and bringing one). I still had to pay for the coffee so it’s not like I was trying to fleece them. Honestly just incredibly rude staff.

My now go to place for coffee, brunch all day or lunch. Love the digital menu and ease of ordering. We were prompted seated, food was promptly served. We weren’t rushed out so could have a business chat, while eating delicious food. We ordered the chicken wrap, extra potato wedges and carrots to go with our beverages -?

Modifying my review. This was one of our fav places for a weekend brunch. However, their quality significantly dropped. The last time we went they served us food with spoiled avocados that tasted very sour. Then when we asked to replace it it took them 20 minutes. We also ordered another coffee after our brunch for which we had waited for another 20 minutes before reminding them again.

Not bad coffee but staff is condescending and they leave the backdoor open for delivery so it’s freezing inside.

Really expensive. The avocado spread in the sandwich tasted off. The smoothie was supposed to be made with oat milk but I'm fairly certain it was made with just water (based on taste and color and consistency).

I've been here a couple of times for the protein smoothies. They're delicious. Service has seemed a little lackluster but I will be coming back anyway to try their coffee, which as a coffee snob I can tell from smell without having tasted, is likely to be significantly above average.

First time I went the food was good. Second I came here got the overcook egg to burn and also another dish was over cooked scrambled egg to really dry. It seems like inconsistent cook.

Not sure why this place only has 3.8 stars. This was my first time here and the food was delicious! Not only did it taste great, the visual aspect of it as well was spot on and portion sizes are big. The only reason for 4 stars was because they forgot to add avocado to my burrito, and mentioned the kitchen didn’t have any more avocado while bringing up 4 other plates for my table with avocado on it. The menu has more than 90% of avocado on it so it’s not believable that it was run out but simply because the kitchen staff did not want to remake the already made burrito.

Solid coffee and delicious potatoes wedges with sweet chilli sauce. I typically get a cappuccino or latte, but yesterday I ordered a mocha which was so nice! I love coming here to treat myself, the service is fast and staff is friendly. I also love the bright and inviting atmosphere. There was one time I picked up 2 coffees to-go and the taste of one was sour, but that might have been an off day. Overall, a lovely cafe I will certainly come back to!
