Grabbed a late dinner here. It was empty but smelled amazing so took a chance. The street noodles and chili beef were A+. Started eating before the photo but will come back for sure.

We ate here on a Wednesday and it was very quiet. Too quiet in our view as the food and service was outstanding. We have two youngsters in the age of 14-16 years and they loved it and so did we. We would advise everyone to come here at least one night to taste the outstanding combination of Thai, Malay and Indonesian food!
Singaporean chili beef was my favorite
Absolutely delicious. Everything on the street food menu is great.

Interesting menu that has many popular Malaysian dishes. We tried three, and found their take on these dishes interesting interpretation of the authentic Malaysian versions. The dishes are flavorful for sure, but with significant fusion of Thai, and possibly Myanmar taste. Perhaps that the reason for their reluctance to call these dishes by their country of origins.
Parking: Except for Sundays, parking could be hard to come by. On Sundays, parking designated as Residential are suspended and are available for non-resident visitors.

What a disappointment .a friend recommended it and said it was reasonable ,80.dollars later,I was so upset. The fired calamari was cold , I should have sent it back but thought maybe this is how they served it. I mentioned it to the waitress and she felt bad. She reheated the last two pieces but it tasted like it was microwaved . Rubbery . The fish curry was flavorful but it had little tiny pieces of okra maybe one chopped up ,two little corns and some soggy fish . Rice was cold seems to be a theme there .only thing that tasted right were the little spoon scallops.
Waitress was sweet and apologetic ,but I would have taken the 14.00 calamari off the bill after she acknowledged it was not prepared right .with these prices I rather eat at home with my instant
Pot!

Scallop appetizer, snapper, & beef cheek rendang were delicious. Pork belly was a little overcooked & so it was dry. Ribs were fine. Prawn & green apple salad was disappointing. The lime/bitters mocktail is my favorite.
Chalawan is, by far, the most underrated restaurant in the Harvard-Porter area. The lunch special, which is only 15 bucks, comes with a rich, savory soup, tea, and a bowl of South Asian street food (either noodles or rice). All the dishes are amazingly well spiced and the noodles perfectly cooked. And there’s never anyone in here during the week!! What gives?

No flavor and small portion. Not worth the price. The options are limited. Do not recommend. Much under my expectation.
