I support and have been to clover many times, especially in my neighborhood Kendall sq, now finally getting around to a review. This place is great for lunch and a quick dinner option. Can order ahead for pick up. On this visit, I ordered one of the newer items- Verde bowl with spicy tender pork. I've never had fake pork before and I quite I liked it. The bowl itself was obviously well thought out and balanced, very flavorful with a good mix of textures and crunch. I might hesitate to order again tho as it has fried plantains/tostones and fried jalapenos which I could get without, but then it seems to become an even smaller portion than it was. I does feels it a bit expensive for what it is, but most things in this area are. Moreover, they do care about their where they get their ingredients, so I don't mind paying for that. The sides are great including the hummus, fries soups, beverages etc. I've had several other sandwiches including the meatball sub and falafel. Overall my only issue is they use more oil in their items (eg fried falafel or oily meatballs) than my tummy is used to. Tasty though nonetheless, and would be fine for those with less sensitive stomachs. I will continue to support this trailblazing vegetarian/ vegan establishment who sources locally, and hope to see more thoughtful places like it in the immediate future. Kudos to the food lab !

Very Short Staffed. Staff are trying their best but everyone is waiting 30+ min for one order. Poor management I guess.

Came here for breakfast before a conference in Cambridge with my partner. The concept is obvious: create a lab style food joint and cater to the smart bio crowd at a premium price with health branding. The server was great and very attentive. Business student from Vietnam and fun to interact with. The coffee was excellent and worth the $4.30. The overnight oats with peanut butter and banana were tasty, and just the right amount of sweet, but the portion way too small for the 8 dollars. The ingredients couldn’t have been more that 60 cents total. We know it’s hard to make a profit off of breakfast, but, you know… let reason prevail. The food prep area was gross quite frankly, water leaks and dirt on the floor, visible rust on some of the equipment. Not sure it would pass a food inspection. Owners should reinvest in the plant. If we pay 8 dollars for a few oats, we expect a commercial kitchen that doesn’t look like a dank hospital basement.

I really wanted to like this place, since it's all plant based, but the food was nothing to talk about.
It felt like we ate a lot of bland food and paid a horrendous price for it
The mint lemonades were not very minty, the hibiscus tea was okay. The chickpea fritter sandwich, the egg and eggplant sandwich, the Mediterranean bowl and the Verde rice and beans bowl were all okay (they had a lot of veggies, but pretty much tasteless). The corn chowder was pretty good, but it took was on the sweet side. The fries with rosemary were tasty, but they were soggy and the portion was wayyyy less for the price.
For a food "lab", you need to be more experimental with spices and charge a little less if you want people trying your experiments. Oh well.
Vegetarian options: It's a plant based food lab, so everything is vegetarian (except an egg sandwich they have I think)

I've gotten addicted to their sandwiches and coffee! The quality of raw ingredients and its preparation is relatively high, and my personal favorites are the seasonal items. Dining experience is casual, frequently I do take-out.

Among the best falafels I ate, but the worst falafel sandwich I had. Everything seems fresh, but the tastes just don't match. The sandwich is rather small, the bread average.

Surprisingly delicious! Very interesting vegetarian and vegan options. The substitute chicken is excellent, and the mushroom in their dishes is divine (made me entirely reconsider how good mushroom is!).
They do a great job on their flavor profiles, and the speed the food comes out is great as well! A little pricey all things considered, but comparable to other options in the area.
The menu does change depending on what's available and the season, so be aware things can change!
Vegetarian options: Everything on the menu is vegetarian, and most things can be modified to be vegan.

Didn't try their food, just stopped in between the shuttle to alewife. Tried their mint lemonade, which isn't sweet at all and purely refreshing. You get a lot of the mint taste. Comes in one size option will have to try food to go next time.

So expensive, but the food is so good it's almost worth it ?. Only the highest quality ingredients go into each menu item. Thoughtful combinations of flavors and unique dish ideas make Clover a genuine value when it comes to lunch options. I always look forward to eating at a clover.
